Original article: The Sarah Palin money bomb

Palin has energized me ....

Before Palin, I almost considered McCain merely the worse of two evils. Considering the likelyhood of more democratic control of the house and senate.

His decision to select this right-wing, pentecostal, wacko was all I needed to be called into action. Although I am currently living out of the US, I plan to donate as much as I can afford to support Obama.

I encourage anyone who cares about 'freedom' and the 'constitution' to do the same. This may be our last chance.

Why do I get the feeling ....

that we are watching the beginning of the end of the world?

Missing the point

Glenn,

I agree 100% with everything you wrote, but people seem to be missing the point on this issue.

Why in the hell is she using a Yahoo account to conduct official business? Many people who work for large corporations (and I assume many government employees) are expressly forbidden to send work-related email through third party systems like Yahoo!

The fact that this is even an issue shows that she really has no clue what she is doing. Also, should could have just created a more secure password.

Mooseknuckle was probably the hacker's first guess.

McCain's Hero

Is it Teddy Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan.

I'm confused.

Now that the election is over ....

this is the kind of crap Salon provides us. Thank God I am not a subscriber.

Can anyone recommend a consistently intelligent, left-leaning news website. I am almost fed up.

Original article: God enough

Not sure which is worse ....

This guy's air-headed rantings about God or Dawkins' foaming-at-the-mouth fundamentalism.

The question of consciousness is an interesting one, and this guy seems to be out of his league. Everything covered in this interview is discussed by Harold Morowitz in an article from Psychology Today in 1980 (reprinted in The Mind's I).

He doesn't mention the G word, but he does mention how many areas of physics have turned from reductionism, while the field of biology is beginning to embrace it, ala Dawkins.

@Nika Martin

I second that.

That and the war on drugs ....

Imagine how much money we would save if both of these 'wars' were put to rest.

Aren't There Better Stories

Why has this been Salon's major story all weekend? Isn't there a plague going on out there? Or at least one that is being over-hyped by the media? How about a sane, well-researched piece about that?

No, we get a story about a hypocritical religious zealot who doesn't practice what he preaches. That is about as newsworthy as the last 500 stories about a hypocritical religious zealot who doesn't practice what he preaches.

This is why I don't and never will pay for Salon. For every well-written, relevant story, there are 29 others that aren't worth reading.

Original article: Mel Gibson's family values

Actually, it's worse than I thought

If you look at the featured stories on Salon today, they are about:

Mel Gibson

Bea Arthur

Bea Arthur

Can only rich people afford to eat ethically?

Beer coasters

Beyonce

This is worse than Yahoo! news and the result of poor editing. Of course, if you scroll down, there are other pieces. But for a front page of a news website that purports to be more intelligent than the AP news wires, this is pathetic.

Oh, well. No one is forcing me to come to Salon. Can anyone recommend another left-leaning news site besides the Puffington Post?

Is 'cloud computing' still the marketing buzzword du jour

Smushmot,

I can tell you not much research went into this article. At least not much more than listening to PMs and Marketing VPs presentations to analysts. That's what happens when you get an analyst to write a tech article.

Though this article seems confused, the biggest problem is that VMware is hardly a startup. Nor is this its primary marketplace. Not sure what the point of this article really is. A puff piece for VMware? Amazon?

Saturday, June 6, 2009 05:54 PM

Yeah ....

Obama sucks. McCain/Palin would have been much better.

This syndicated crap is reason 10000000 that I would NEVER pay for Salon. Isn't it time to axe Moanin' Joan?

Original article: Skip Gates, please sit down

Have none of you ever watched Cops?

If so, you will have seen someone being arrested in their own home for disorderly conduct. Of all races.

Is it "morally" correct or even technically legal that the police arrested Skip? Probably not. Is it standard practice by police all across the country? Absolutely.

The problem with this incident is that it diverts attention from the very real issues of race that occur every day.

Original article: Crash

Or it could be ....

That your article just wasn't very well written.

You started off by parsing the definition of what an accident is and that x number should not be considered as such because of this detail and that. In that initial list, you didn't even mention the recent hull breach of SouthWORST.

You ended with your follow up nit pick over the exact names of the crappy airlines in question. Who cares?

It's quite apparent where your rhetorical bent lies.

Airlines travel is still very safe, though. Just not sure it's going to continue to be as safe if airlines continue to cut back.

Also, while I'm here, in respose to previous posts, why would pilots deserve a raise more than anyone else? Especially, maintenance staff?

Cynic 1st, Progressive 2nd

Well, I can't see what difference it will make. He is bought no matter what his background.

I suppose his background might fool some on "main street" into thinking that he has the working man's interest in mind.

Remember the glory days (9 months ago) when we used to dream about change?

Obamesferatu

I love that graphic. I'm very afraid, yet slightly intrigued.

Hmmmmm

There are many things running through my brain after reading this article, but all I can really say is I need to go to Romania.
