Original article: "Ugh" of the day

Where's Lorena Bobbit when you need her?

There are so many things wrong with this guy that I won't even start. All I have to say is that I am 30 lbs overweight, haven't shaved legs, pits or pubs since 1992, and get laid whenever and by whomever I want. And, I'm not even a lesbian!

I think I have the exact same friend!

I am in a very similar situation. When my friend calls me several times a day, she never bothers with silliness like "Hello" or "how are you"? She goes right into excruciating detail of what her children had for breakfast or what their new shoe size is. None of my other friends like her. If its a good day, I hear how successful she was in giving her husband a blow job the previous night, but if its a bad day she talks about "disappearing", thats when I know why I am there for her. I also know, even though I can never get a whole sentence out of my mouth during a normal conversation, that she is there for me. I don't need someone to discuss my issues with burnt toast, she can blab on about that all she wants, but there will be a couple a times a year when I just say "shut up, I need your help". She shuts up and is there for me. I have dropped my kids off at her house in the middle of the night so I could take my husband to the hospital, she drove 50 miles to pick me up from a car wreck I was in and recruited her husband to pick my kids up from school, and sometimes she just knows when to say "come over and have a glass a wine". On a daily basis, she is a pain in the ass, but I wouldn't trade her for the world!

Katie Couric

I was doing a hundred other things as the election results came but had the TV on. After the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert show I switch to a generic network station. Every time I checked in, it seemed Katie was getting more and more depressed as the election results started favoring Obama. I thought this was such an exciting election but could not find that reflected in the newscasts. Were they all trying to be "objective" or are they all republicans? I thought after the Palin interview Katie would be pro Obama/Biden. So much for liberal media. Anyway... Its a brand new world!

....the simplest questions?

I love that Cary answered this question, which obviously annoyed some readers. But it really made me think about vacations. I have traveled all over the world mostly for business and other times for pleasure and have had fabulous unduplicatable experiences. This letter made me realized that I usually take vacations at the spur of the moment and according to others ideas and designs. I sat down a decided on what my dream vacation would be. This is not a easy task! Then I realized that maybe I should never take my dream vacation. My dream vacation is to spend at least three months in Italy. I have been to Europe many times and have probably spent the equivalent of two years there but was never able to get to Italy, but now I have built up an idealized version of Italy that may never be realized. If I go to Italy one of two things will happen- I will be so much in love with the country that I will never return or I will be terribly disappointed. So I will try to avoid Italy.

(BTW: I lost the post of who suggested Machu Picchu: brilliant trip, I did the Inca trail culminating at the Sun gate. JenniferC- I never want to travel with you. tbone99- great suggestion on the volunteering- my hubby just did a trip with Haiti Outreach building houses, very rewarding. LauraBB: Love it! Inexpensive and you don't need a passport.

Georgetown

Thank you! After I wrote that I thought "how can I not go to Italy?" It is definitely my next destination!

wingnut puts the nutty back into conservative arguements

Setting aside the fact that wingnut didn't actually say anything but regurgitated BS, and the misogynistic undertone, I take great offense to two absurd points he actually tried to put forth: 1) Is he saying that a particular church's right to refuse to marry two people takes precedent over those two persons right to get married? Does he believe the "separation of church and state" means that we should protect each religions' right to bigotry? and 2) I absolutely love it when conservatives bring up "big government" as in "overreaching state power". Dude-when you stop trying to control what goes on in my uterus- then we can talk. (Cheat sheet for those scratching their heads: Abortion, birth control, sex education, etc.........)
