Mr. Greener, you're skirting the elephant in the room

pun intended, I suppose. The GOP's problems are not one of ethnicity, although their tone-deaf actions in regard to the same certainly aren't helping.

It's your party's views on many issues that put them far behind. It isn't just your base that is too "old" - it's your ideas.

The GOP runs on a social platform that is largely at odds with the trending demographics of today and the future. You run a platform based on blatant hatred of gays and lesbians- you excoriate us at every turn- and yet, gays and lesbians are slowly being acknowledged as upright and contributing- dare I say "normal" - members of society. Not the shadowy, society collapsing demons you've made us out to be for over thirty years.

Your views on women's rights are non-existent beyond a outmoded, chauvinistic archetype that no longer exists, and hasn't existed in this country for nearly a half of a century.

Your views on economics have been proven time and again to be wrong- wrong for the working people of this country and wrong for a sustainable economy. People across party lines are waking up to the fact that funneling all of the money upward into the pockets of the wealthy- where it STAYS- is not a successful way to plan for the economic future and health of our nation.

And speaking of health- most Americans favor a comprehensive heath care package that would cover every citizen, regardless- even if it means slightly higher taxes. Something your party has branded as "evil Socialism" (yet another dusty and outmoded phrase) and has fought tooth and nail against in the interests of the top 1% income bracket.

And don't get me started on your party's jingoism, lust for war and violence, total disgregard for the law upon which our nation is FOUNDED and exists solely by, your contempt for working Americans and their rights, your desire to spy, lie, and deny.

And the list goes on.

Mr. Greener, it is not just that your party is old- It is completely out of touch.

as my first line should have read...

Nathan Coker re: gay marriage issue

It's possible that both black and latino communities may have a more conservative view of gay rights. But you know what? I'm sick and fucking tired of being treated like a political football due to my sexual orientation. Tired of it. Way tired.

The Republican party has to realize it's ideas are all bankrupt if it is to succeed in the future. And that has more to do with creating jobs, a healthy economy, education and upholding the rule of law, than being able to (yet again) base their appeal on hatred of gays and lesbians.

Sick Hypocrites

So this is something akin to a religious whorehouse? Okay... Well, we all know that Republicans have no sense of cognitive dissonance in regard to legislation, speeches, and actions- but man, this really takes the cake.

These men stoop to new lows when acting in complete and total opposition to the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. From what I've learned, Christ's teachings were about helping the poor and downtrodden, and acting with grace and humility. Not fucking random interns and prostitutes and crying about it behind locked doors and pretending that you're automatically okay.

This is the problem with blind fundamentalism- adherents are so convinced of their rightness before God that they act in reprehensible and psychopathic ways- running roughshod over the lives of others without a care in the world. Why? They're "forgiven" so anything and everything they do gets a free pass.

The fact that these twisted two faced jerks use their taxpayer- funded positions to further this garbage and utter lunacy makes my blood boil.

phillyfanatic

"where do those liberal...homosexual panderers... and many leftist House gays on the Left side of the aisle go for counseling?????"

Well, maybe because they aren't involved with a militant and stringently rigid version of religion they don't have an internal conflict about their sexual orientation? Seems to me that a lot of the Uber-Fundamentalist Republican congress members who deride homosexuality are having a titanic internal struggle with their true orientation.

Her father is a bloodthirsty psychopath

Expecting any kind of rationality from his daughter is asking too much.

This has to stop

It sickens me that this country has allowed itself to slip into a proto-fascist police state in the wake of 9/11. Instead of acting rationally and maturely and using the law and the resources at hand, the American people, in a stunning act of cowardice, handed over as many rights as they could for the illusion of safety.

The right to privacy is a fundamental right that all American citizens are entitled to. Idiotic apologists who assert they have "nothing to hide, so they don't mind" completely miss the point of privacy.

The lack of judicial and congressional oversight is particularly troubling- not only with NSA but also with CIA. God knows what kind of crimes they have committed under the auspices of "keeping us safe". Of course, the neutering of the courts is exactly what Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and Yoo wanted. They wanted free reign to act like Neo-Fascists against their own citizens.

I applaud the actions of the ACLU, which I truly believe is an organization that acts as a bulwark against the complete erosion of the freedoms we are granted. However, I cannot help but to be sickened by the fact that our elected officials are not the ones stepping up to the plate on this one. Apparently they could give a damn what laws are broken, and which of their constituents are spied on, just as long as they have unobstructed access to the kickback saturated whorehouse that is now Washington D.C.

Original article: I want my girlfriend back

Advice: read The Great Gatsby

You can't repeat the past. And attempting to do so always ends up to be a complete disaster- for yourself, and for those around you.
