Original article: Who is Sarah Palin?

Johnny come lately is reeking of desperation

McCain's VP pick is blatant pandering to women voters. He tried to pick a so called "maverick" too.

But here's the thing, he can't pretend to be a candidate of diversity - the Democrats already did that months ago. And let's not forget that McCain would work to destroy a woman's right to choose and limit reproductive freedom. This doesn't change just because he has chosen a woman to be his running mate.

John McCain is just a Johnny Come Lately riding the coattails of Clinton's and Obama's accomplishments. This reeks of desperation.

Back to Obama coverage, please!

We just had the most rousing primary in American history, can we get back to talking about that, instead of this fucking Arctic no-name?

Dobson would vote for McCain/Satan

As long as they got him one step closer to that Fascist American Theocracy he's wet dreaming over.

Original article: Gov. Palin and Iraq

What an airhead

One of the biggest issues of this and last election was the war in Iraq. It's cost us thousands of lives, billions of dollars and destroyed our respect and good standing around the world.

In fact, I would say that it's the one recent issue where it's impossible NOT to have an opinion on, and literally impossible not to have thought about even casually.

What can Palin possibly bring to this ticket, and more to the point- what in does she possibly bring to the federal government?

Good salmon fishing tips?

McCain has shot himself in the foot with a howitzer in picking Palin. Which is good for us, of course. :)

McCain's actions are insulting

Regardless of your political position, McCain's choice of Palin as his VP is a severe insult to the American people.

McCain has explicitly demonstrated his contempt for the Presidency and the leadership of the American people by picking the most grossly unqualified individual as his potential VP.

If elected (GOD FORBID!!!) McCain will be the OLDEST first term President in HISTORY -and the person he has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the most powerful political position in the world is a one-term governor of a state with less than a million people. A one-term governor who hasn't really developed a position on the Iraq war. A one term governor with ZERO experience at the federal level.

Not to mention McCain's pick is the most blatant example of political pandering I have ever seen in my life. It insults the intelligence of the American people, and more disturbingly, it insults the intelligence of every woman in this nation. Apparently John McCain thinks women are so dumb that they'll just vote for ANY woman, regardless of her experience, or her positions on vital issues.

If there was anyone left in America with questions about McCain's judgement- your questions have been answered. McCain's judgment is terrible, and he cannot be trusted with the Presidency.

The blatant hypocrisy goes unmentioned

Palin is a hard core religious fundie who promotes abstinence only education -and yet!- has a pregnant teenage daughter and is trying to turn this event into a great Pro-Life example.

Usually, I would say that family matters are private- but when you put yourself out there as a staunch "abstinence only/family values" type - it undercuts your anti-sex ed/ holier than thou attitude when your seventeen year old daughter gets pregnant.

I hope

that Bush can mention the "heckuva" job Palin has been doing up near the Arctic Circle, and put our fears to rest.

Yet another example of the GOP rule:

Do as we say, not as we do.

Petty, Shallow Palin

This was a joke right?

I've never in my life heard someone talk so much, and say so little.

Watching this convention and its delegates was like watching a lunchroom full of rowdy junior high kids- lots of noise and put downs but nothing of any substance.

Here's a news flash for Palin- our economy is in the sewer, foreclosures are at an all time high, the war in Iraq drags on and on and sucks 14 million dollars a DAY after it, millions of Americans have no health care...and what do we get?

Hockey mom jokes.

But in typical GOP fashion- when the majority of Americans don't want what you're selling, just bash the Democrats who have infinitely more to offer this time around.

Pathetic.

@Effie Perine

"The entire Republican party is marching to Barack Obama's beat right now."

Agreed!

And not only in the way that they are framing their arguments, but even in the way they're orchestrating their convention.

Best example? McCain's "surprise" appearance after Palin's speech.

Gee...I wonder where he got that idea...?

When Obama made an appearance after Biden's speech last week it was absolutely electrifying.

When McCain came out after Palin last night it looked pathetic and sad.

Original article: Those liberal elitists

What cracked me up...

Was when Sarah Palin denounced the use of a private jet, which she "put on E-Bay".

A private jet? You mean like the one John and Cindy McCain have?

But...

where are the Palin hockey pucks and hockey sticks?

Don't you know that she's a hockey mom? Which means she's a mom? And has kids that play hockey? Isn't that great?

She wants to go from here...

to being Vice President?

Don't think so.

Original article: It's the economy, stupid

Where has Obama said he would raise taxes?

The standard economic response from any Republican toward any Democrat is that Democrats will always "raise taxes" - regardless of the actual evidence at hand.

Obama has not said he will raise taxes. In fact, he plans to CUT TAXES for 95% of Americans. Which, unfortunately for McCain and his pals, means that the current Bush gravy train for the corporations and wealthy elite will come to a halt. As it should.

Obama and Biden are on the ground and see the reality most Americans are facing- the middle class is being squeezed out of existence because of the Bush/McCain economic policies. People are paying more for less while EARNING less and working twice as hard for it.

McCain is out of touch. He has seven homes. Most American families are struggling to hold on to one.
