Imperial Presidency = Dictatorship

This article gives a fascinating back story of how democracy died in America.

Dick Cheney is one of the most heartless, cold blooded monsters this nation has ever had the shame in producing. He is not at all a proponent of democracy, but rather, seeks to turn our nation into a dictatorship driven by extreme, hard right ideology.

His complete indifference to the concerns of the American people and the suffering of the Iraqi people suggest severe and deep seated psychological problems. He is a political version of Ted Bundy.

When your "grand experiment" regarding Iraq causes the deaths of nearly 1 million innocent people, your experiment is a failure. The Nazis also had a "grand experiment" but they called theirs a "Final Solution". A difference in semantics does not erase the similar ideological bent.

Even the views of H.W. Bush were prescient when he realized that the results of a "Team B" could be manipulated to serve ideology. In fact, this is exactly what happened in the run up to the Iraq war.

I cannot help but to place a good part of the blame upon George W. Bush, who proves himself to be a completely incapable leader. His complete weakness as a president has allowed a rabidly ideological Vice President to subsume executive power.

This article sickens me. What sickens me more is that we, the American people, have mistakenly placed such trust and power in the hands of those least deserving and capable. This article needs wide national exposure so the people of this nation can come to terms with how disastrous this administration has been for our Republic. We should also do well not to elect any Republicans to any public office, no matter how small and seemingly inconsequential, until this rancid political party remembers the true definition of democracy in America.

Not a centrist

When his positions on Iraq get the coverage they deserve, the American people will be less willing to see him as a centrist. The majority of the American people want out of Iraq now- and he wants us to stay for another century. This needs to be hammered as much as possible before November.

More journalists need to do their jobs and question him and his positions- instead of being the Kiss Ass Express for the McCain campaign.

Original article: Iraq: The ten commandments

I Hope

That these commandments will be followed. By all of our elected officials and our media. And if they are not followed, it is our duty as citizens to insure that they are.

I am deeply saddened and ashamed of our nation's behavior over the past seven years. Saddened and ashamed, because we are capable of so much more, such better actions.

We sent men to the moon. We invented the internet. We made a collective effort to wipe out polio through the March of Dimes. I'd like it if we could be that America again. The America that helps to foster a greater world through cooperation and innovation, instead of the America that blows shit up and kills a lot of innocent people.

"Nobody is above the law"

Is absolutely the correct statement. The fact that a candidate should have to even mention that shows how far we've fallen.

I agree with you. But it's Obama, not Osama.

Then what?

When the "gas tax holiday" ends we'll still be in a recession. This is just like people who max out their credit cards for Christmas presents. The bill still comes due in January.

Here's a tip John, when you're in a hole- stop digging.

"Comm. 9) If you expect the media to have brains, you’re in trouble."

Unless, of course, they're on Fox News, or happen to be named Limbaugh, right?

1 more week

and our left-wing pissing match will hopefully be over.

Then we can focus on what really matters- getting the White House back in November.

The article forgot to mention

the gangsters who are currently running our government. It's not just Russians and Nigerians who are scamming people and skimming oil profits.

Dubai is herein called "the money laundering capital of the world". Gee...didn't Haliburton just move their offices over there? I guess Dick Cheney has to launder all of that Iraq war profit somewhere.

Rambling Rose

I really have to take exception to your posting on this article. This is as bad as a Brightstar post, but with the gender bashing reversed.

This article points out a lot of problems that are terrible and need to be solved, but calling for the extinction of half of the human race isn't going to do it.

"You Might Be An Idiot, Too!"

Wow! I am? Well, in that case I'd better back Clinton.

How does calling someone an idiot bring them over to your viewpoint? I don't understand that.

And as far as your points at the end of the post regarding health insurance- most Americans are aware of that. Most people have problems with their health insurance (assuming that they even HAVE ANY). A lot of people saw "Sicko" too. It's not just Clinton supporters who understand the health care crisis.
