Palin at the U.N.

AP - September 24, 2008

NY - Early today, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin arrived at United Nations headquarters on the East River in New York City.

After shunning reporters but seeking camera exposure, Governor Palin was seen pointing across the water at Queens. Nearby observers heard her delightedly exclaim "OMG, look! You can see England from here!"

A Message From John McCain

Dear Teacher,

I regret to inform you that I cannot attend school tomorrow because I have to stay home and clean my room. It has nothing to do with the math test that is scheduled. Honest. The room is a mess. You might think that I could have cleaned my room at any time of the school year, or even on the weekend. But as I told my mom, I am being a maverick by setting aside a special time to clean it up.

I do mavericky stuff like this all the time.

Thank you and good luck to the other students,

John McCain

Sarah at the UN

AP - September 24, 2008

NY - Early today, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin arrived at United Nations headquarters on the East River in New York City.

She shunned reporters, but sought exposure from silent camera operators who saw Governor Palin point across the water at the Queens shoreline. Nearby observers heard her excitedly exclaim "Hey guys, lookit! I can see England from here! Put that on my resume!"

Don't Think So

It has been reported since Palin's selection that most of our ABM systems are located in Russia,

Most of our ABM systems are located in the United States and western Europe.

if Russia (or, for that matter, North Korea) were to ever attack us from the west with nuclear missiles, Alaska would be the front line of any defense.

Alaska is not the front line of defense in case of attack with nuclear missiles from Russia. Because Russia has missiles that would travel to the United States over the North Pole to the mainland USA, bypassing Alaska.

Is This a Plot?

Are McCain's enemies smart enough to plant this seed in the brains of his campaign managers with a phony 'leak' about a wedding? Because you and I know it would be an utter disaster to milk Bristol Palin's wedding for political gain. The only people who would love it would be the trogs who wait for their "stories" to come on every afternoon, then sit through all the Judge Judy-type shows. And those people don't vote.

So let's hope Sarah and "Dude" Palin are planning a Barbie Dream Wedding for Bristol right now!

This Is True

I grew up in a town of roughly the same size and redneckness as Wasilla, and I know of a number of kids, both boys and girls, that WANTED to get married straight out of high school

And many of those girls couldn't wait to get pregnant in order to force their boyfriends to marry them. I know, my sister was one of them. She was relieved when she finally got pregnant. Phew, now she could quit school, get married, have a baby and be a stay-at-home wife, hanging out with her girlfriends and their babies. They could all visit with each other and their kids would become best friends!

Didn't turn out that way. My mother refused to allow her to drop out or to marry (my sister was 16). My sister "came down with mono" and the baby was given up for adoption. That was more than 35 years ago. Nowadays, teen girls keep their babies. They go to special classes for pregnant girls, they don't drop out and if they can move in with their boyfriend's family before getting married, they qualify for welfare. Things are a lot easier for teen mothers these days.

In the end, grandma will be the co-parent for many of these children. It's becoming very common. It's easier for girls to keep their babies nowadays, but it's not any easier to raise kids.

At any rate, good luck to these kids Bristol and Levi and the baby they are expecting. I wish Sarah Palin would give a thought to girls in Bristol's situation who come from a single-parent family themselves and don't have the money the Palins have. Poverty is rough on babies.

Original article: The Sarah Palin pity party

Is It Sexism or Rich-ism?

George W Bush managed to be the president of the United States for eight years.

He is lazier than Palin (at least she earned her political positions; her Poppy didn't buy them for her), is more conceited than she is, more arrogant, at least as vain as she is, probably stupider, appears to be even more cruel and thoughless (Palin paid bounty for wolves as governor; Bush killed more than 100 Texans) and is just as boneheadedly convinced his brand of religion needs to rule everybody else's life as she is.

I don't see men wailing about how he represents their gender. Men don't cringe at him.

Why shouldn't Sarah Palin think she is qualified to be vice president? The creature who now inhabits that office is clinically brain-damaged from lack of oxygen to his malfunctioning heart. And I'm not speaking in metaphors; we're talking cardiac bypass pump-head here. Dick Cheney is damaged goods. Even old friends like Brett Scowcroft don't recognize him anymore.

If George W Bush can be lazy, incurious, asinine, arrogant, clueless, cementheaded, dangerous and president, why shouldn't Sarah Palin feel qualified for the same, or an even lesser, job?

Why should the fact that she is an incompetent female stop her from holding the highest office in the land, which is currently held by an incompetent male?
