God, I Can't Stand Hillary Clinton

And yes I AM a democrat. But Jeee-zuss she makes me want to stick pins in my ears. She's boring, she's stilted, she's phony, she doesn't say anything without parsing to death. There is nothing spontaneous or life-like about her. She is the epitome of oratorial rigor mortis.

You know as well as I do the only reason we want to vote for her is to get Bill Clinton back in the White House. I fantasize that the minute Bill Clinton walks back into the White House, Ken Starr clutches his chest and drops dead.

He's a Sanctimonious Jerk

The last thing I want is yet another Bible-quoting, holier-than-thou, Jesus-imploring Southern politician.

The Funny Thing Is...

One of the most widely-read writer/activists of the modern Muslim fundamentalist movement is Sayyid Qutb. Qutb didn't get his image of America from Hollywood, or from newspaper accounts about immoral liberalism in America. Qutb got his ideas about America from America. He was a student here in the 1950s -- and not at one of those East Coast liberal elite colleges that vex people like D'Souza so much. No, Qutb attended college in Greeley, Colorado, a town so conservative that the sale of alcohol was forbidden.

Qutb was disgusted by American decadence. In particular, he loathed the American habit of lawn care. He felt it was disgraceful to devote so much time to the care and grooming of grass when there was so much misery in the world. He was horrified by a church dance he attended -- men and women danced together when the pastor played "Baby, It's Cold Outside" on the phonograph. Another thing that disgusted Qutb was the American male's love of sports.

So there you have it -- one of the founders of the modern Muslim fundamentalist movement which Osama bin Laden belongs to was an Egyptian exchange student who despised American lawns, church dances and football.

Not Hollywood.

Not birth control or abortion.

Sayyid Qutb hated Middle America. He hated the suburbs. He hated all those things that the self-righteous haters of East Coast liberal "elites" hold dear.

Oh, Please

"The film stubborn Bush supporters need to see."

You really think hardheaded Bush supporters would go see a film about reality in Iraq? Puh-lease. They're waiting for the Bushies to make their own reality, then pass it along to them.

This Reminds Me of What AccuWeather Tried To Do

The corporation AccuWeather, through Rick Santorum (via lobbyists, I'm sure) tried to pass legislation forbidding the National Weather Service from providing readable forecasts to the public for free. Said Santorum and Accuweather: The government is stepping on the toes of the free market by giving something away for free; something which could be sold by the private sector (the weather forecast). Therefore, the NWS should only release raw weather data, since that is what taxpayers are paying for. Then we, the private sector, will interpret that raw data and provide forecasts to the news media -- for a price.

Santorum was not successful, but I'm sure AccuWeather will continue to try to pass such legislation.

Joe, What About CNN?

Joe, you didn't tell us what you thought about the fact that CNN actually picked up cameras, went to Indonesia, investigated the story and very prominently reported that it was false.

That's something that nobody did during Kerry's Swiftboating. Sure, it dribbled out that the Swiftboaters were being funded by shady Texas lawyers, that what they said was unclear or not verifiable... but not until after the MSM trumpeted these charges against Kerry for days and days, so the Swiftboaters could do their damage.

I find it really unusual that CNN actually did some investigative reporting, don't you? I mean, this is the network which airs the odiferous Glenn Beck and maniacally vindictive Nancy Grace.

What do you think motivated them to stir out of their usual torpor and do a little investigative journalism?

"On the other hand, I feel like politicians (and now Blitzer) are exploiting Mary Cheney in a way that doesn't feel all that supportive of gay rights."

Aaron, you misunderstand Blitzer. Did you watch the video? Blitzer used quotes from a conservative Republican "Focus on the Family" member. This group is among the GOP base and they get a phone call from the White House once a week. They are not in favor of gay rights, they do not believe gays should marry, nor do they believe gay men and women should have children unless the children are going to be raised by a male and female parent. Blitzer was basically asking Cheney "Why do you coddle these bigots when they look down upon your own daughter?"

Cheney refused to answer because he is a hypocrite; a scheming politician who will use anyone to gain power and wealth, even at the expense of people like his daughter. People like his daughter who AREN'T his daughter, that is, because as Jon Stewart correctly pointed out, Cheney believes he and his family -- due to their wealth and power -- are exempt from the policies his own party seeks to impose on others.
