Ralph Reed Has Rudy Giuliani On His Side

Rudy headlined a fundraiser for Ralph Reed a few weeks back. He was effusive in his praise for Reed and said it would be a good thing for the state of Georgia to have Ralphie Boy as their Lt Governor.

Oh God, PUH-LEEEEZE let Rudy Giuliani be the GOP candidate in 2008. Knowing what I know about NYC during Giuliani's reign and the pies Rudy had his grubby fingers in, I IMPLORE you, Lord, to make Rudy the hetman for the GOP in 2008. If you thought Kerik was a good read, just wait.....

The Way Things Are Going....

... I wouldn't be surprised if the case is thrown out by the judge.

These guys are on a roll. I believe it's impossible for them to be made to take responsibility for anything. I no longer have any trust at all in the law. (Don't even mention the media - I lost all trust in them in 2000.)

After all, how could Patrick Fitzgerald take more than 2 years to determine that nobody did anything wrong with regard to the Plame outing -- even though everyone has pretty much confessed their role in it and it was definitely a conspiracy by any definition -- except that Scooter Libby told a fib.

There will be pardons all around, Libby's legal costs will be paid by wealthy benefactors (like Tucker Carlson's daddy) and they will continue to smirk and make millions in speaking fees, on book contracts, as 'consultants' to lobbying firms and as sitters on the boards of 'think tanks.'

I wouldn't be surprised if the fix is already in, having been discussed and planned for several years ago. They knew Wilson and Plame would sue as soon as Novak's article hit the fan. Three years is a long time to plan for getting the Wilsons' case tossed out.

I Beg To Differ

"Dornan says the Scarborough story "encapsulates everything wrong" with Harris as a candidate."

As a matter of fact, I think it's about the sanest thing she's ever said. Joe Scarborough spent much time spreading disinformation about the young woman who was found dead in the office.. and very quickly, I thought, considering the short amount of time between the woman being found dead and falsities eminating from Scarborough's office. Almost as if it was not a surprise... hey.....?

Harris is half-right. Scarborough had a dead young woman problem, but she wasn't an intern.

Other than that bit of sanity surprisingly coming out of her, I wouldn't be surprised to see Katherine Harris releasing a campaign video where she descends a staircase in tights and a headscarf and does a dance to the VMI fight song while waving Old Glory.... she is a very staunch character.

I See This All the Time Online

It's not just rightwingers who are completely irony-free online. At different lefty messageboards I visit, I constantly see people getting their backs up and becoming vociferous over posts that are obviously satirical. I am astounded at the number of times this happens. In fact, I would say that when people have written obviously satirical posts on any leftwing messageboard, there will always be at least one person who takes it seriously and sees it as his/her duty to answer the satirical post either with obscenities or with numerous paragraphs of bilge wherein they take apart the faux poster with buffoonish earnestness and ire.

As they said in the 80s - DUH.

So beware who you make fun of. There are people who lack an irony gene on both sides of the polical divide. And I'm trying to figure out a way to make money off of all them, because they've got to be gullible enough to buy anything.

Sore Losers

Well, no one has every accused Congress of being smart, or fair-minded or concerned for the welfare of the American people. And they aren't. Anything good that gets done only gets done because pols sniff the wind and find their constituents have been sitting up and paying attention. Pols are purely motivated by self-interest - the interest in getting re-elected so THEIR relatives can be the ones getting pork via local government jobs and contracts and via consulting and lobbying jobs, rather than the other guy's relatives. They throw a hissy fit when grassroots organizations form and they don't feel the need to change their policy while still hanging onto their jobs. But this is a particularly petulant era we're in right now.

That said, I think the slogan of the week should be: Why does Joe Lieberman hate American voters? Why does Joe Lieberman hate democracy?

Sirs, how is that recruitment drive going, sirs?

"commanders say that the news media is ignoring progress there"

Gee. I wonder why they're scrounging for good news?

By the way, have you seen that the military is getting high school teachers to talk up joining the military to their students? And it is sending Black Hawk helicopters to high schools to take kids for a ride? And that they have combat-simulating environments where high school kids play soldier, just like an amusement park submarine-simulator or a fake rock climbing wall at camp?

Whoopee, what fun war is! Helicopters are cool. And I can get money for college, too, my homeroom teachers says so!

Check it out on CNN.

Original article: Bikers, they ain't no good

Every Serious Biker I Know..

has been injured. The most recent injure-ee I know had to drop out of school for a year, thereby delaying his entry into the higher-paid workforce and necessitating having to borrow money from his family to see himself through his jobless recovery.

What is the overall rate of injury to frequent bikers who bike more than 2 or 3 miles a day? Because I'm betting it may cancel out the "healthy" benefits due to bike accident-related loss of work time, doctor and hospital costs and, in many cases, surgery.
