@KateTex
[Read the article: Argus Leader editor responds to RFK controversy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just contributed $100 to Obama's campaign.
I am a very poor man, I am not entirely sure how I can afford to give his campaign anything, let along so much. I have been squarely in his corner for a good long while, which surprises no one, here or elsewhere.
But you know what? I always felt just a twinge of guilt for supporting Sen. Obama so strongly everywhere without putting my money where my mouth is. I mean, I'm not really part of the movement based on just lip service. I'm not even a registered democrat; I'm undeclared, and proud to be so. But the way American politics works these days, how can I really be a part of anything unless I at least foot the bill for a few front lawn signs?
I never have been much of a joiner, of anything really. I don't trust groups, or the group mentality; But I still gave Obama $100. So as much as I will squirm in any form of a group hug, I think I am now officially an Obamabot. I believe in him, and I gave him money to back it up. So now I'm one of them. For once in my life, 'I'm one of them'. Because I believe in him, yes. But you wanna know why else?
So I can tell you this:
Screw you KateTex. WE don't need you. Obama will be our next President, and you can sit around with all your other +50 racist white women and bitch and moan as much as you want, and nobody gives a shit about anything you say whatsoever. Go ahead and vote for McCain if you want. WE don't care. WE don't need your vote. WE don't need the +50 female white racist vote. Because WE got everyone else. And WE will elect the next President of the United States. And again, screw you KateTex.

The ideal VP for Obama
[Read the article: Who will Obama choose as veep? Nope, you're wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Would be a white woman in her fifties, from the south, who served with distinction in the military, retiring as a General, who early and prominently supported Clinton during the primaries.
Short of that, there probably won't be a choice out there that is going to make everyone happy. If only Madeliene Albright was a natural born citizen.

I see the joke just fine...
[Read the article: Rush Limbaugh was right]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's just not very funny. And I don't mean to say I am offended, or insulted, or anything like that; its just the delivery sucks.
That's the trick of comedy- delivery. If your delivery is good, you can say anything you want, no matter how racist or sexist or otherwise insulting it is, and people will eat it up. Comedians have been doing it for centuries. Just watch Chris Rock, Carlos Mencia, Dave Attel, classic Richard Pryor, or almost any comic and you'll see how horrible sentiments can be delivered for humor successfully. Every comic does it at least a little. The New Yorker cover just fails miserably to do this.

multiple homes
[Read the article: How many homes do you have?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You know, whenever I think about people who own all these multiple homes, the first thought that always comes to mind is how do they manage to keep track of their favorite stuff? I don't mean expensive stuff, I mean the little stuff that's loved for sentimental or other comfort inducing value. A favorite book. A special CD, or the Ipod you got catalogued just right. Your lucky socks.
For example, you got a favorite bathrobe, that is just worn in perfectly, nice and soft and comfortable, and on a lazy Sunday afternoon you like to loaf around like Hefner in it reading the funnies. Just imagine how complicated it gets if you can't find it when you have over a dozens places spanning over 3,000 miles to search for it in. I imagine not being unable to find the car keys can get really insane too.

Well...
[Read the article: Hammering homeboy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The best thing you can say about Maureen is thank God there is at least one pretentious, pseudo-intellectual man hating blow hard that can't vote in the U.S.

It's not just about the homes
[Read the article: Hammering homeboy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If it was just about the homes, it might go nowhere, but it isn't. It's part of a building narrative against McCain of being out of touch. I mean, this is a guy who probably has not spent a single day in his life below the upper middle class at best. The homes is just a note in the song. Just as the $5 million comment. And the $500 loafers, the private plane, the dumping his first wife to get himself rich wife worth $100 million, etc.
And yes, ultimately being rich is not a bad thing; many of our best Presidents were rich. Both Roosevelts, for example. But McCain opened the door wide for this by trying to portray the self made Obama as some kind of rich and privelaged elitist, when he himself fits that tab far more accurately.
If this is the only tack they take against McCain, then its a problem, because by itself its not enough. Opening up fronts on his record of incredibly poor judgement on recent foreign policy (specifically against Al-Queda), his all talk no action, or even contradictory action (specifically on vets benefits), shallow gimmick- like policies, to just name a few, will have to opened up as well.
And Obama should really cut out the disclaimer he always puts on his attacks complimenting McCain before he makes criticisms. Its commendable that he takes the effort to be respectful, but enough already. You've made the point.
