New Idea

Anyone want to start a betting pool as to which Clinton supporter regular here strokes out first under the strain of the daily Clinton sophistry? I mean, trying to actually make yourself believe her popular vote bullshit alone must make veins pop out all over a person's forehead.

Of course Cythera can't be included- she's already friggin' frothing insane.

@ Electro robot

You don't know what the word bigot means, do you?

Clinton can stay in as long as she wants to

But she does so at the risk of her own reputation. And I don't think positive or negative campaigning makes that much of a difference.

The longer she runs a campaign universally considered lost, the more her own judgement is called into question. Right now she is seen as being stubborn; next week she could be seen as increasingly delusional. Only to get worse the longer she stays in when its obvious to absolutely everyone she's lost.

Many people already view her as wanting to sabotage Obama's campaign so she can run in four years. While you may see people claiming this now as people on the fringe, the longer this goes on the more legitimate people accusing her of this will become. Especially if she takes this all the way to the convention. Not to mention that if she did hold out till then it'd be like three nazi soldiers holding out in hills in Bavaria until 1960.

Right now all she has lost is any chance to ever be President. She'll be too old to run in eight years, and there'll be too much bad blood if Obama loses for her to run in four. I suppose from her standpoint that's bad enough. But if she stays in well past closing, her reputation in the party will start to suffer, and she can forget Senate leader, perhaps she can forget about her senate seat itself. I wouldn't put it past certain parts of the democratic party to mount a serious primary challenge to Hillary in two years as payback, and with how much she has lost AA voters with her race baiting and 'white man's burden' attitude towards them, to win it.

So she can stay in as long as she wants to. Obama is right not to demand anything of her. But she really has to keep in mind that she stays in this race at her own peril.

You liked this movie?!?

I watched Indy yesterday. You are really too forgiving of it. My God, what a crap sandwich that movie is. Its a moronic, infantile piece of utter tripe. I never expect anything intelligent or sincere out of Speilberg or Lucas, but jeez, this movie is almost as bad as Lethal Weapon Four. Karen Allen must have been the only person who actually read the whole script because she can barely keep a straight in every scene she's in. I honestly thought she was gonna start rolling on the floor laughing her ass of at some of the utterly preposterous dialogue she had to deliver. I bet she did in some of the outtakes.

All that being said, this humungus crap sandwich of a movie is undoubtedly going on to earn $430 million this weekend. Because everyone wants to see it, and half of them will let nostalgia for when Lucas and Speilberg weren't ass clown filmmakers cancel out their sense of taste.

She didn't misspeak

You can try to pretend that she skipped right past two far more recent and accurate democratic primary fights in '84 and '80 for comparison to this year, for one that just so happened to end in Kennedy's murder, but that's total bullshit and everyone knows it. She knew exactly what she was saying.

I for one, do not give Clinton any benefit of the doubt. She used that up years ago. Defend her if you want, at risk of the strain giving you a stroke, but the evidence keeps piling up; she is essentially a total scumbag.

And I really don't think she should be alluding to assassinated politicians; if I had to guess who some mentally imbalanced right winger would hate enough to try and kill, it wouldn't be Obama.

Don't look now...

But I think Keith Olberman is going to ripping Clinton a new one tonight. Special comment about this issue at the end of Countdown tonight.

I'm making popcorn.

Olberman's sexist now, Karenn22?

You know, I had a good little bit I was going to write here about how while Olberman may be in Obama's corner, he at least has been doing his upmost best to try and be fair in the face of her countless stupid and incredulous statements. But you know what, fuck it. You're really not worth the effort. You want to support and defend and rationalize this racist, ugly, mean spiritied piece of filth that is the junior Senator from New York by way of Arkansas, by way of Illinois, then go right ahead. I really don't care. She's a worthless scumbag, and anyone who can't see that even after what she said today will never see it.
