  • McCain too stupid to get it.

Just like General George Custer and George Bush just slap McCain and he will chase you right into an ambush. Yahoo cowboy mentality with the George Custer war plan led us right into the shooting gallery in Iraq just in time for the civil war ambush which has divided and almost bankrupted the country and McCain boasting he would do it all again to get Bin-Laden. Easily manipulated and unable to learn from past behavior. No wonder he agrees with the slow escalation splurge which keeps us in the ambush. When will these republican hopefuls ever learn? Bin-Laden already won this battle and laughs while you walk around beating your chest. You just don't get it.

Not one question on one of the top issues of the 2006 elections....Corruption...the real reason Iraq became and remains a disaster; due to the corrupt incompetence of reconstruction but not one of these characters will discuss it or corporate reform because that's where the majority of their funding will come from. One of them or none of them is all the same. They can only buy or steal an election unless they totally change their party.

  • This hypocrisy is evidenced often

How many times recently have I read speeches made on the House or Senate floor or in some op-ed where the speaker has said just the opposite when similar circumstances occurred during the Clinton Administration. Have these Republicans no memory? Only party loyalty is of concern and in each event that has been the goal of their rhetoric to the point that one wonders if they believe anything they say or just say anything to that end. In my mind all republicans consider government as some entity for hire. Their only function seems to be to get contracts or steer money toward the special interest they represent. Even the laws they pass are all geared to protect or enhance some corporation or special interest group. To them voters are not real people but numbers to be included or suppressed in their grab for the bigger piece of pie. Government is only there to protect or enhance their financial interests. They would never, ever be able to understand that smile that would come over a Katrina victim's face just to hear those 9 sweet words..."I'm from the government and I'm here to help". At present the government has employed the very people it was meant to protect us from such as Fred Thompson.

  • We are not buying it.

[Read the article: Improvement in Iraq: Trust Joe Klein and his secret sources]

Having been through the Viet Nam war rhetoric there came a point when people just knew they could no longer trust anything the government or the major news magazines or papers told us about the war. After reading the same sort of rhetoric about the occupation in Iraq we just are't buying it. After reading Klein's article only one word came to mind....bullshit. As soon as you see "military sources" or "unnamed sources" etc. repeating the same thing the government says we (friends and family) feel insulted, spoken down to, expected to trust this propaganda when all it does to those who don't already agree with it is just anger us and makes us pitch the magazine. My physician's office no longer carries Time and that's at least a start. I guess they get pats on the back for this crap but objectively it is exactly as you describe in this article. If I ever begin to believe that the majority of American's condone torture and encourage it then I will know it is no longer America but a fascist state. Excellent work Glenn. I'm so glad you're here and writing..

  • He is the image of "real" progress alright

Body armor, helmet, and surrounded by armed troops...real progress Joe. God, he's such a tool. Why waste taxpayer money.Just send Joe a card from Iraq that says real progress. Amounts to the same thing. I just hope he doesn't go shopping and end up getting 20 merchants killed as a result like his grinnin' buddy McCain. Another bought and sold robot who's time has passed.
