Original article: The Obama photo flap

Not quite the same...

"Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely."

It's not quite the same when a white woman named Hillary puts on the traditional dress of a region and the photos get sent to the press. It's different when a photo gets sent to the press of a man of color named Barack dressed in what many voters would mistake as "islamicist." (I had one man tell me that Obama is an "islamicist", whatever that means.) I guess I would just ask what motivation the Clitnon campaign has in a) colluding with Drudge and b) sending a photo like that. Don't tell me it's because they can't get enough of vacation photos.

I'm all about adding more parties...

But build it from the ground up. Running for president just isn't the best way to build a party. If you want your message heard, it's better to organize locally and build a movement. Ramming it down people's throats in an already hotly contested presidential election won't open many ears. (Sorry if that's overly trite)

Thanks DC Eric!

I was pretty sure they could vote in the GE but the primary process threw me for a loop.

Questions

I hope someone can help me out here. Seems the longer the primaries go on, the more questions I have about this party I thought I knew about.

1) Can these people vote in the general election?

2) If no, why do they get a vote in the primary?

3) If yes, do they vote absentee in their old state?

3a)If yes, why don't they just vote absentee in their state?

Sorry for the multiple part questions. I was raised in a Dem household but I guess we never got into these nuances. So any insight would be much appreciated.

Original article: How Obama won Wisconsin

How he won?

There was a group of committed people who got our butts out there and knocked on the doors and made calls. No small feat when the temperature is 1 degree! It was great to see how well-organized the campaign was. I also don't think he could have done it without the support of the WI SEIU. They're great! Last night was sweet for those of us who volunteered. :) I hope OH took note. I always feel like WI & OH are similar. (You know, in that latte-drinking, prius driving, birkenstock wearing, trust fund way. Ha!)

Cringe-inducing

I felt so bad for that guy last night. That is all.

Holler House!

I love seeing this name in national discussions. There's truly no place like it anywhere I've ever been. It's so classic that I'll let it slide that it's Hillary HQ. The little bowling alley really is sweet!

Not fair

That wasn't fair to do to me. I'm at work. It's tough to pretend to be hard at work when I'm laughing out loud.

Original article: Quote of the day

Consider this Obama supporter offended

That was a really stupid, hurtful choice of words. Chelsea is an intelligent young woman and an asset to her mother's campaign. Of course she'd want to help her mother. I'd do the same for mine.

And whoever the anonymous poster was that attacked Chelsea for working for a hedge fund- shame on you. Let's not lose focus here... her last name definitely opens doors but it's not like she's a shmuck who fails her way upwards. That's our current president.

Another $10 to Obama from me!

Since the polls closed last night, Obama has raised nearly $4.25m. Can you feel the movement? I can!

Obama '08

@ Frederico

Of the people that donated to Obama in January, 90% were under $100. 40% were $25 or less, and 10,000 people gave $5 or $10 to the campaign. I'm one of the lowly 10,000 who donated $10 or less... and proud of it!

I'm not sure who you thought would be standing there with their hands out. Turns out it's the American public!

Milwaukee pride!

Of the places I've been, WI is my favorite. I see the merits of living in other locations but choose to stay where I was born. I don't care if people don't like the winter or don't want to move here. Please don't attack my home, though.

a) I may be a big asshole, as Nulla implies, but I see no famine. I love nothing more than fresh salsa from my garden! The local farmers markets are always overflowing with beautiful produce and as it turns out... there are lots of cows here. (who knew?!?)

b) I appreciate the neighborly kindness I associate with midwestern values. (The best, if saddest, example happened when my sister's family suffered an unexpected loss while camping. Complete strangers showed up with casseroles and food platters to give their condolences. That may sound hokey but small-town hospitality was definitely welcome when we were grieving.)

c) I would be livid if Lake Michigan were drained without my consent for unsustainable projects. The Great Lakes are precious to many of us. I've lived no more than 2 miles from Lake Michigan my whole life. I feel an honest connection to the water. Please don't treat the Lakes as big puddles that need to be mopped up.

Way to take a slightly cheeky article and dial up the hate. Happy *focking* Monday!
