Original article: Can Palin ever come back?

Venus of Hohle Fels

The upper contour of the right breast as seen in one view seems to have an indent... could it be that the two huge breasts are actually the heads of suckling infants?

Original article: Phelps: Eight is enough?

Perhaps you missed his 'excitement' when the relay team won!

what has to be one of the most remarkable events at this OLYMPICS.

Swimming requires pacing oneself; no doubt, MP paces his excitement.

could the recurrence be related to the stress?

When Edwards was praising his wonderful wife, I would have asked him, "If Elizabeth is so wonderful, what does it say about you to behave as you did? And then to ask her to live a lie for you? What kind of person are you? We are not here to talk about Elizabeth."

It is a fair question, albeit unknowable, to ask if the 'stress' of this event had any consequence on Elizabeth's cancer recurrence?

Original article: Show the games live

Commercial free

OK, delay the broadcast. I can record it and WATCH it COMMERCIAL FREE. What difference does it make if I watch it delayed another 15 minutes? It not like I am seeing it live!

What were you thinking with the delay, that people did not want to stay up and watch, get up and watch, watch in real time? The world has become 24/7, people work and are awake all hours.

You could show the games in real time as they happened, and then show them again, a delayed screening.

Incidentally, there was good coverage of the opening ceremonies but I will be looking for a Chinese production on DVD later.

JOBS not one wants to do -- sex role defined jobs

Musing on what WERE the 'jobs no {American} wants to do,' it seemed that they are the sex-role defined jobs from previous decades. House-cleaning, child-care, laundry... these were done by women; lawn-mowing, car washing, seasonal preparations (tree trimming, lights, eaves cleaning)... these were done by men.

Women with full time jobs had less time / energy / interest in home chores; men saw that women were getting help, so they sought the same and many family chores became the 'jobs no {American} wants to do.'

People who do household chores are re-enforcing the shared relationship of the family {however that is defined) and maybe that is what contributes to more sexual sharing.

Original article: Campaigning while female

HILLARY'S situation

HILLARY'S situation

Reference OLD HAG: all of our mothers and grandmothers age, and we love them; some even garner more respect.

Reference LIKABILITY: trying to 'humanize' Hillary after she was so maltreated by her husband is difficult. Regardless of what is shared between them, his long history of 'affairs' has lessen her esteem, both how she sees herself and how others see her. Unbelieveable as it may seem, perhaps the greatest thing for HILLARY to do for her own campaign would be TO DIVORCE Bill and become her own person. {{Those who love him would love to see him free to be himself, and would still vote for HILLARY.}} Those who dislike her would see she has some self-respect... ala the "She's got balls" vernacular, some might say "She's got breasts!"

For many in the country (half of whom are already divorce), a CLINTON DIVORCE would be no big deal; for others, it would be about time.

Of course, it would all be manipulation, but such is the way of the world. Perhaps the most interesting outcome of these political times is bringing a Black descendant, a religious Mormon, and a cheated on woman to the ballot.

Original article: Girlhood, interrupted

Anonymous -- Early maturer

My comment was just a suggestion, another perspective on what might be contributing to a mass effect.

Certainly there have always been early / late maturers, and you apparently are one of the early maturers; these extremes are probably related to genetics.

Original article: Girlhood, interrupted

Just a guess

Is there any chance that the bombardment of sexual stimuli in our daily life has an effect?

Do girls with less sexual stimuli exposure have a delayed puberty? Do those with more have an earlier puberty?

The Amish girls would be an interesting population to study, as well as those of parents who limit their children's exposure beyond the "basic birds and bees" or whatever was common a few generations back.
