@dmin

Reagan also increased the federal deficit and the national debt to an unprecedented level during his administration. It was the largest expansion of government in the later half of the 20th century. He also presided over the biggest tax increase in history (at the time).

Reagan fails to be a real Republican.

Sorry

Meant to say "They" in the last two. Must have gotten caught up in the tinfoil hat excitment!

Bad phraseology

With all due respect to adelito2, let me take a crack at rephrasing their list:

1. They don't support George W. Bush's stimulus, which most republicans voted for.

2. They support corporate domination of healthcare, and ensuring healthcare's big profits at the expense of people's health.

3. They oppose market based energy reforms, like cap and trade (which is actually a market-based approach proposed by republicans, originally).

4. They oppose organized labor.

5. They oppose immigrants, at least the poor ones, you know, the tired, the hungry, the huddle masses ...

6. They oppose military actions during Democratic administrations, but support it during Republican ones.

7. They support the manufacture of new bogeymen, and support using them as a test of one's jingoism and rhetoric.

8. They hate gays, and support big government intruding into people's personal lives.

9. We hate women who won't be good and have babies.

10. We oppose states rights and the rights of municipal and county governments to attempt to protect it's citizens, particularly if it creates another straw man against which we can test a candidate's purity.

Yeah, so like I said before - Reagan, Eisenhower, Nixon, Goldwater, get the hell out of the Palin/Beck party!

Big Tent

... a very very empty big tent for Republicans. Now that they're going to purge Nixon, Eisenhower, Goldwater, hell, even Ronald Reagan, they'll have a very empty big tent indeed.

Perfectly Rational Explanation

And now I'm going to use the same excuse, saving those who would otherwise die without healthcare, if I go on a murderous spree killing congressional Republicans.

(NOTE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT: The previous is a facetious statement designed for a rhetorical argument. I do not plan on killing anyone, either Republican or normal people.)

All those other RINOS

All those other RINOs, in addition to Scozzafava, should be booted from the GOP. We can start with Snowe, Collins, McCain, Eisenhower, Nixon, Goldwater (and Kissinger, too! Realpolitik my ass!), Reagan (how dare he actually raise taxes!), oh there's a whole legion of Republicans to be purged!

All but the seventeen remaining true believers better prepare themselves!

Reindeer burgers!

Icelandic sourced food in Icelandic restaurants? Excellent! That puts the former McDs on a par with Reykjavik's more gourmet establishments.

Fastfood smoked lamb, reindeer, puffin, herring are all good ideas. I just hope they stay away from whale burgers.

@ChillyDog

Actually, ACORN does have a right to the funds.

They have a right because Congress gave them a right to them when they approved funding for them (in a wholly bipartisan fashion).

Now the GOP (and you) want to defund them not because they did anything which makes them ineligible for the funds, or because they violated any stipulations attached to the funds, but because they allegedly did something bad. In other words, they are being punished.

If you pay attention to the actually discussion, that is exactly what Congress is not allowed to do.

RUSSIA!!!!

Russia is a conservative's dream!

They tend to lean very nationalist, pro-business, anti-regulation, (pro-graft, *cough*), bullish on national defense, all into using as much of their energy resources as possible, very friendly to the ultra-wealthy class.

So, next time you conservatives start whining and bad-mouthing OUR President of This Here Glorious United States of America, you can just ...

(god, I love saying this)

...

GO BACK TO RUSSIA!

@ Renegade Iconoclast

You forgot to mention that, if the virgin doesn't "cry out" (in other words, it's consensual sex), then both the man and woman are stoned to death, too.

So, man rapes a virgin - pay a small fine and get a new wife (woman gets forcibly raped and married, in that order).

Man has consensual sex - death penalty for both of them.

Whoever thought up these "morals" really wasn't thinking about how to persuasively motivate moral behavior, were they?

I stopped at the first paragraph,

after "world wind tour."

Aaaagh! It's "whirlwind tour" or "world tour"! Goddamn it! I know I'm being pedantic, but aren't governors supposed to be a cut above the average?

Ah yes, Sarah Palin.

*sigh*

"Counsel" not "council"

It's a wonder male councils ever win!

A "council" is a group or body that gets together to decide or advise, in other words, to "counsel." A "counselor" also provides counsel.

Ack! Yes, I'm pedantic, I'm a lawyer.

@jef

No, counting California is absolutely correct.

They are the second state to allow same sex marriage. The fact that they subsequently repealed it doesn't mean that they didn't originally pass it, once.

And since the Supreme Court decision is still pending, it may again allow same sex marriage as a result of the original court ruling.
