The rabid right is mightily dedicated to pushing god's message - I am just curious if they are all getting this inspirational message as directly as they intimate - why doesn't the big guy just tap all of us -- like one huge spam attack? Normally I am the ultimate skeptic, but gosh THAT would turn this skeptic around!
Seriously if he is the supreme being, does he really need lots of plebs like myself running off at the mouth, getting the message garbled? Aren't those claiming "his" ultimate power over everything insulting his very being by claiming to speak for him? Hell, I get irritated when someone attributes something to me that I NEVER said - or would ever say.
Just another mystery of the universe, like why the church claimed the sun revolved around the earth for those hundreds of years. At least Pope Paul apologized - well maybe GOD made him do it.
It has been extremely difficult to read the comments of bush's political hacks without jumping up and running through the streets foaming at the mouth. To see a proud American trait of honestly using science to solve problems being made subservient to political power could mark the passing of US science competence.
Ugly American? - How about flunkie political hack of the near comatose bush admin. Much more descriptive.
We know the Bush family has been supplying oil field equipment through Haliburton.
We also know that Dick Cheney as president of Haliburton supplied Saddam with oil equipment during the sanction period by way of a foreign Haliburton branch. Since the major players in Iraqi oil seem to be in the Bush circle, should we ask exactly why the US established the no fly zone over the Kurdish area, where Hunt oil (friend of Bushes) just nailed down some oil rights?
Is it at all possible the no fly zone was an investment in oil that would necessitate an invasion at a later date to close the deal?
I am certain the Bush administration is constantly pulling exactly the kind of dirty tricks the article has covered, Lee Atwater and Karl Rove started that sort of preemptive "evidence" during the Nixon administration. All those folks back then were experienced and without much resembling a conscience. There should be a campaign to investigate where the truth lies in this most important ( and likely illegal ) subversion of the will of the people.
I would like to note that Ahmed Chalibi was one of many people interested in promoting an invasion of Iraq, but had a most unique motivation, which explains the years and money he was willing to invest in pushing invasion by the NEOCONS. It was a article that mentioned that before Saddam appropriated Iraq, Chalibi's family owned 100 square miles of Iraqi land. The fact this was never considered when evaluating his motives proves the NECONS hardly wanted to do due diligence -- they were only looking for reasons to invade.
Glenn Greenwald is a genius -- far as I'm concerned. In this case, he is missing one point. Just to be clear, EVERY action has some sort of result. The tobacco company CEO MUST own the fact there will be numerous early deaths, and additional suffering as one result of his job. Likewise Bill Clinton's dalliance while not fatal to any immediate participants did help set the stage for Ralph Nader and other actors to allow George Bush backdoor access to the office of President of the USA. All of the follow-on damage to our once (and hopefully future) great country could be attributed to those who's acts help the ball start to roll. Death and suffering often are the result of happenstance, but people by action or inaction are often agents of disaster -- thanks Ralph, thanks George, thanks Bill.
The drive to create -- the basic need to have the touch stone -- the joy of realizing an eventful life. A desire to pass along hopes, dreams, love and a life. When I think of these basic human needs it occurs to wonder why isn't this compilation more common? Not everyone is Picasso, or Norman Rockwell, or Charles Schultz ---- so I guess it's stick on Martha Stewart doo-dahs.
Much of the success of the Repuglicans is their ability to say to your face they have your best interests at heart, while suppressing their own laughter. Law and order and family values come to mind but RIGHT TO WORK -- cmon! This is nothing but laughable! if we were to label it correctly it should be something like " THE RIGHT TO BE UNDERPAID SO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS CAN ENJOY A SOLID STREAM OF CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THEIR RE-ELECTION ".
The people who can influence world economics will pull every lever they have at hand to pour money into their pocket. The folks who could blow the whistle on the shenanigans are in the position of " silence will pay ". Imagine, you don't protest the rape of the country, and later your position on the board of directors of KBR will net you $200,000 a year -- for zero work. The bottom line: if a number of smart folks can see the opportunity for corruption, we need honest government employees to step up and change the regulations, get the word out, resign the post, blow the whistle to the press. WHISTLE BLOWER LAWS SHOULD BE THE HIGHEST PRIORITY, EXTREME PUNISHMENT NEEDS TO BE THE RULE, NOT THE EXCEPTION. If the bank robber gets 10 years for a $5,000 theft the government criminal should receive the multiple of the amount involved. Simply make it linear. As we see, the ruling extreme right can be just as culpable for stealing the savings of Joe and Jane average citizen.
