I was just going to say that I believe your post goes to me.
Anyway...in reply to your post:
Ergo, the dog-whistle "bamboozled".
I think that speaks for itself. Oh, yeah right, Obama really avoided the subject of race with that one.
And I addressed Bill's "calculation" before in a previous post to someone else. But I'll repeat myself. Wowee! Bill's comment really made a big impression on those black people in keeping them around, didn't it? That sure was smart of him throwin' that dust in the air! The logic of your argument, which another standard Obama-supporter argument btw, defies, well, logic.
And percentage of population means exactly what at this point in history? Considering Obama's winning with the help of 90 plus percent of the black vote, your complaint is that the voice of black people is somehow lost?
is a Repug troll, if that's helpful to anyone.
But obviously, the Clinton's didn't know how to play the game. Did they?
And I don't think anyone is cashing in on the "hatred" of Obama - I'm not sure if that's exactly what you meant. I do think they are cashing in on the hatred of Clinton. But regardless, that has divided us and will cost us everything in the end.
What can we do? You see, you're one of the few Obama supporters who wants to actually do something to stop this. Look around. Do you see any other Obama supporters here asking this question? Seriously?
People have been innoculated with and feed on this stuff. I've tried reasoning with this exact line before and all that happens is that I get insulted and called names. So, I don't know. Sorry to sound cynical, but I don't get that people want to get off this hate drug so easily. And yeah, I think it goes both ways.
Personally, I think when Clinton is finally allowed to be human and acknowledged her supporters will feel somewhat vindicated and the shit will drop off on both sides. The throwing crap at her has got to stop but I don't think Obama supporters are up to that. Do you? Seriously?
You know, Obama has won the nomination, the least that can be done is to allow Clinton to play out, be given her due in honor, and allowed to bow out in grace. Obama should acknowledge her RFK remark for what she said it was and put to bed this nonsense of constantly reading into what she says.
But the MSM feeds themselves and people with it, and people buy into it, so... Even Salon here won't bother to stop it. Everyday they throw chum to the sharks. So, I don't know.
No.
WHY? Because that didn't work particularly well either, did it?
Try this. How about Bill was pissed. If you study the video, he is being baited by the MSM. THEY KNEW IT. Let's bait Bill. So he states that fact of Jesse Jackson winning that state, too, and it was a fact for that state. Not particulary gracious, no. Race baiting? Dog whistle to whites? In that, Bill knows better. He was pissed and that's all...there...was...to...it. Was it stupid? Yes. Racist or race baiting? No.
I didn't say they didn't know how to play the game. It's just this weird absolute black & white thinking meme that's passed around that somehow they're calculating every move down to the inth degree. Sorry, not possible. Sorry, these people are human, not devils and they failed a lot. Obviously. So will Obama.
And I'm not talking black and white thinking in race terms, I'm talking in how people think in absolutes of either/or. There's no devil incarnate here. Well, Bush, yeah. Cheney, yeah. Rove, really yeah.
But the Clintons have worked their asses off for their country and the Democratic party. Are they ambitious? Hell yeah! So is Obama. He damn well better be. Have they lied? Yep? Damn straight. Has Obama lied? Please. Have they played the game? Duh. And so has Obama.
But they are all on our side!
Hey girl!
Anyway, yeah, nobody bothers to really look at the facts of the actual transcript of that video but merely go with what the insinuation of what the MSM has told them to think. That video that was played by MSM at the time was edited for that statement about Jackson and that statement only. The fact that Jackson's name was part of a long list he was talking about doesn't EVER get stated. Talk about manipulation by the MSM!
But people hear what they want to hear and forget the rest.
Interesting story on your friend. I think probably exemplifies the whole dynamic split of this campaign. And I didn't know Bill had an office in Harlem? How interesting! Says something there.
You know, probably Bill, more than Hillary, feels some sadness at being devalued by the majority of blacks. I mean he probably understands it, but if he felt some pride in really knowing a lot of blacks and working closely with them, it's probably difficult for him.
Anyway, I think this whole campaign has been the belly of the beast for them. And for us all. And we're not done yet.
Thank you! It has been a refreshing conversation. And we'll hope that it signals a change for the better half of our selves for all of us.
