But this is a reductionist pit, isn't it? To reduce Ferraro's statement to simply being racist WITHOUT looking at the whole complex issue? Without actually ever considering the truth within it. To simply condemn anyone who might dare say a fact even though it's not to our liking? What have we been about if that is denied?
And, no, sorry this is about ALL of us. Not some of us. Not some few. Because in the end, whether McCain is defeated in November, whether justice comes back to our United States of America, whether who we are as a nation actually prevails, is about ALL of us...and whether truth prevails above all.
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is."
The BIG question is, is it true? If Obama were white, would he be where he is? Does being black have anything to do with it? And if it does, what is it?
And if it does have something to do with it, does saying it make a person racist?
And I, like you, have relatives who have said exactly the same thing. Which means telling the truth and being okay with it, not using it as bait, is going to be very important in November. Why? Because all of those white people who stand on the borderline with some of those attitudes are going to swing to the area where they feel most comfortable.
And if we can't be UPFRONT with saying yeah, Obama's black and that's got a lot to do with it, which is rather obvious to everyone, then they WILL swing the other way and vote Republican. Why? BECAUSE, EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY BE, THEY DON'T WANT TO BE LABELED RACIST for saying or thinking what is obvious. They're going to call, "Bullshit!" And, unfortunately, they'll be right! And if you think that isn't going to matter, then you and everyone else are seriously fooling yourself. And THAT will ruin us.
Please think this through! Not being straight on and upfront about this could seriously backfire.
Obamaism has become the new fascism.
How dare anyone make fun of our Great Glorious Leader!! How dare anyone not bow down and worship Him!
How DARE anyone insult Him! They are forever condemned inhuman racists.
How dare anyone not say only positive things about Our Great and Magnificent, Incredible, Fabulous, Saintly Leader!
How dare anyone not be demeaning and throw vitriol at Clinton at every instance! We will crush her supporters!
Free Speech is Dead! The Free Press is Dead! Only the press that supports what we say is allowed. We will unite by destroying our detractors! Seig Heil!
Fascism is fascism. A totalitarian view that condemns and is intolerant of any other view.
Any true believer in democracy, in free speech, in freedom, should condemn it where-ever it shows up.
If we make ourselves blind to it in our own system because it somehow serves our most cherished beliefs, we'll ALWAYS be in danger of it taking over again.
We should be intolerant of intolerance.
Hyperbole. Yeah, something Obama supporters know well.
An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.
In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.
Ah, yes, everyone has someone like that in their family...
Can you say....hypocrisy?
A journalist who is willing to buck the Obama journalist status quo and actually say something sort of objective.
Of course, you know you will be vilified for this? You broke the rule of Obama absolutism and totalitarianism. And they crucify for that!
....They asked the students to act as unbiased referees, marking down all infractions they could spot. The results were remarkable: The Dartmouth fans mainly noticed Princeton's errors, while the Princeton fans concentrated on Dartmouth's......This was a matter of visual perception: Each side, that is, really did "see" a completely different game. When one Dartmouth alumnus was shown a film of the game, he decided it must have been badly edited. He'd heard that his side had played dirty, but where were those parts on the movie? He simply could not see them."
Sounds just like supporters for each side of our Democratic Presidential campaign. Just substitute Princeton for Clinton and Dartmouth for Obama, mix up a bit and, voila! Instant bias.
Freudian slip, Manjoo?
....except for the 30 seconds of spinning wheel for every 6 seconds of video. Which always seems to happen when I come watch one of these videos and I don't have happen anywhere else on any other site....time to fix this problem, Salon!
