All the naysayers on left who go on about how they can't stand her, would be kissing the ground "he" walks on. Some of this "smooth-talk" criticism wouldn't even be in the landscape of discussion. But because she IS a woman, God-forbid she should play with the big boy rules of the game. If a man were doing this, everyone would be oohing and aahing.

Sometimes Salon seems to me to cut it's nose off while spiting it's own face. For all the talk about "feminism" that goes on here and in Broadsheet, etc., it's amazing how many of the writers writing these pieces don't know shit about what real feminism (and humanism) is as a philosophy and how it speaks to seeing and treating the person as an individual and a human being and not as patriarchal piece of property. They also don't know two cents about how a woman in politics (or any leadership role) is more often misperceived and criticized just because she is woman and either performing the way a woman would do it with compassion (oooh, suspicious! or she's "using" it!) or if she speaks and acts like a man, then she's somehow inauthentic.

Good God, she's damned if does and damned if she doesn't. Have some guts, Salon. Instead of spewing the same ignorant criticism and crap thrown out by the rest of the ignorant media that passes itself off as real journalism these days. Why is it that when a woman comes along as a leader she can't really be human, too? She somehow has to be perfect. Being a woman, she has to walk a tightrope of not appearing to be too controlling and not appearing to not control enough.

And just for the record, I don't agree with everything she has said (personally, I like John Edwards' message much better) but I also know that for us to have a real "regime" change next November, the Democratic candidate has to be able to reach down the middle to get the independent vote...or we'll end up having another conservative idiot take us deeper into the Dante's Hell that has swept this land and the world.

In a way I'm being funny...and I'm not. Seriously. That way it confirms his worst paranoid fantasies that women are really out to get him. All women are the authority figures he fixates his persecution complex on. And, in this area, you can't say anything that he will argue with cogently. He's not going to get the point. Ever.
