Watching Sarah Palin deal with the media is like watching a parody about politicians or a model UN exercise at your local high school. The props are in place, the clothes are right...but the fart-stink of unintentional comedy is ever-present and unavoidable. The more Sarah talks off-script, the goofier and more unprepared she looks. Sarah should learn that it's not a good idea to bitch at your audience, esp. when your audience is filled with professional journalists quite capable of turning your Presidential bid into a farewell tour.

Why are we pretending that this woman is a viable candidate for national politics? If she looked frumpy or plain, we wouldn't spend two minutes talking abut her.

If Palin is the best the GOP can do for '12, bring it on--please. Everyone thinks that she has a future in national politics. Here's a clue: we've had eight years of folksy, "from the gut" style leader and we're sick of that character. Palin is interesting because she was dropped into the '08 campaign late in the race and was a young, sexy face to counter the GOP's image of being tired and out of touch. To be a presidential candidate in the foreseeable future, however, you need to be competent, have experience and bring policy substance to the table. Palin will never have these things. She's going to sputter out like Fred Thompson if she runs for President.

I admit I don't watch Bill O'Reilly much--he's always struck me as a parody of a journalist and/or talk-show host. But I thought I'd watch this clip and give him a chance, because the Democrats share the blame for our current financial crisis.

I watched about 2:30 of a 6:07 clip and had to stop. Bill O'Reilly MUST be fired. This is pathetic, even for Fox. The guy completely loses his cool and is yelling at the top of his lungs at Barney Frank. He's lunging at the camera with his finger and ranting. Frank made good points about his role in regulating Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Did O'Reilly listen? Nooo. What an @--H--e.

This is not a tough interview. This is not skeptical, informed journalism. This is hate-filled screaming. It's the kind of thing you'd expect from 3 am local access cable channels. And Bill always has to be right, no matter what the topic. He's an expert on everything...in his own pointed little head.

Everyone talks about John McCain and his temper. I've never seen a clip of McCain even approaching this kind of meltdown--and apparently O'Reilly behaves like this ALL THE TIME.

What is the point of having this kind of behavior on TV? Does anyone think O'Reilly gets to the point more effectively or accurately by screaming, interrupting and waving his hand around? Does he gets his guests to be more honest or informative? This is a public spectacle. It's about as close we get today to putting someone in the stocks and hurling stones at them.

Here's a litmus test for O'Reilly supporters: if a co-worker behaved like this toward YOU, would you put up with it? Would you think this kind of screaming and air-punching actually solved the problem? If the other guy wouldn't even listen to what you had to say, would you have any respect for him at the end of the day?

Wouldn't you like to see his butt canned?

If any TV personality behaved like this to a conservative figure, the right wing in this country would be baying for an apology or dismissal. Enough is enough. O'Reilly should be fired. It's disgusting that Fox thinks it's OK for one of its major "stars" to scream like a fall-down drunk and refuse to let his guests' opinions be heard.

What the hell is wrong with this country that we tolerate this kind of behavior?

"McCain: I've gone to Palin for foreign policy advice"

The only foreign policy advice McCain is going to solicit from Palin will focus on how to get her to shut up when having her picture taken, or how to say something bland and innocuous.

Man the lifeboats! The USS Johnny Mac is about to go under.

What a shame for John. He turned out the lights on his own campaign. McCain's own party didn't wait long enough to sneak him into the photo-op celebration or give SOME illusion that he was involved in the negotiations.

So now he looks like a buffoon. "Duty calls, mustn't debate Obama!" Ye-ah, thanks buddy, but we've solved it without you. And what excuse does McCain have now for delaying the debate? He needs his rest?

And how does he get people excited about his campaign again? He simply didn't get enough drama out of this suspended campaign stunt. Now he looks reckless and unprepared. If he doesn't go through with the debate, it'll look like he's running scared and acting only on political calculation.

You gotta wonder whether deep down he just wants to hang it up and get back to being Senator. Or wandering around his six (no, no John it's seven!) houses....
