True. But HRC has absolutely no intention of giving up her "18 million crack in the glass ceiling" and indeed true HRC supporters are not impressed by Palin (indeed, many of them feel insulted and demeaned by the tokenism of choosing her for VP, especially when there are many much, much more qualified Republican women McCain could have picked). HRC will make it crystal clear that she (and not Palin) is responsible for the 18 million cracks. The Republicans probably know that Palin will bring in very, very few Hillary supporters. Their real agenda is to bring in the socially conservative Republicans - these people are a minority but they vote! This is why we need Democrats and moderate Republicans (trust me, there are tons of them and many either support Obama or are leaning that way).

@ Gratfjule Life

Dream on. Even if (God forbid) McCain/Palin win Democrats aren't going anywhere. This year Democrats will solidify their hold on Congress. And Obama will not just fade away he will continue to be an active and influential force in the Senate and for the Democrats. No one who has achieved what he has achieved can possibly fade away. Obama has energized the Democrats and millions of ordinary people who have never participated in politics (indeed, who have never registered to vote) now believe that they matter and that they can set the country in the right direction. The Republicans are hell-bent on destroying this country and everything we have fought for.

(As far as the whole BS about Obama's alleged lackluster performane in the Senate. Nonsense. One, when Obama came to the Senate Republicans were in charge, even senior senators could not be effective. Two, it is clear that you and people who think (and I use the term loosely) like you have not ever bothered to actually research Obama's record. Instead, you blindly accept the narrative created by the Republicans and the (so-called) "liberal media." We are doomed if people like you refuse to think for themselves.

Xantro

Sarah Palin's lies are well-documented. Start with the Wednesday night speech at the convention and work back to her, uh, record in Alaska. The lies are easily documented. As are all the Republican lies. Do the research, stop robotically accepting Republican talking points and attacks on Democrats. THINK, THINK, THINK. AND THINK SOME MORE. Don't post again until you know what you are talking about.

Democrats - No Worries!

National Polls are Irrelevant

What matters is state by state polls. This is because in all states but one (Maine?) the winner in that statem takes all the electoral votes. In all of the swing states, the race is very close. In some recent state polls looks like McCain got a convention bounce but polls also showed Obama's numbers going up also.

Right now - Obama is leading in electoral votes. Look, it doesn't matter if you win a state by 10% or by 1% - the electoral votes are yours. And, Obama can win without Ohio and Florida. There are any number of plausible scenarios that get Obama to 270.

Here are some of the state numbers:

Colorado: Obama slim lead

Florida: tied

Pennsylvania: Obama slim lead

Ohio: McCain good lead (convention bounce)

Michigan: Obama slim lead

Wisconsin: Obama slim lead

Virginia: McCain slim lead (convention bounce)

New Mexico: Obama good lead

North Dakota: Obama slim lead

Indiana: McCain slim lead

North Carolina: McCain slim lead

North Dakota: Obama slim lead

New Hampshire: Obama slim lead

Washington: tied

Nevada: good lead

@Queen "B"

I am sooooo sick of listening to Republicans who simply do not know what they are talking about. Everything you say in your post about Obama's supposed flip flips is basically a lie because you fail to state Obama's actual positions.

For example:

Offshore drilling - Obama is open to offshore drilling, with limits to protect the environment, Obama knows that offshore drilling will have little impact on the price of gas until 2030 (source: Bush's Department of Energy), Obama's approach to weaning us from foreign oil emphasizes green technology and making cars more efficient

Irag - Obama's goal is too bring our trips as quickly as feasible, Obama knows better than to think that an exact timetable is not possible, Obama will take conditions in Iraq when he takes office (the facts on the ground), Obama also knows that we totally dropped the ball in Afghanistan - the real front in the war on terrorism and we must finish the job we abandoned

Well, if these well-reasoned, pragmatic, sensible policies are "flip flops," I for one would like to see a lot more flip flops!!

@Queen "B"

You know that Obama wishes he has joined the military so he can win the election. Are you psychic? Been watching too much John Edward (or whatever the name is? You clearly did not understand the second part of Obama's answer - in 1979 we were at peace. Have you considered that maybe Obama thought that, given that we were at peace, he could better serve his country in another capacity? Of course, you haven't. Or, do you believe that military service is the only way to serve our country?

Do you know that lying (bearing false witness) is a sin? Republicans lie all the time - you and the rest of your fellow travelers risk eternal damnation because of this. No you say? Right, I forgot. You are saved because you accept Jesus as your very own personal magician (oops, I mean savior) and all your sins will be forgiven. Those of us who tell the truth, however, are going straight to hell. Twisted, very twisted.
