This is not about Bristol Palin. This is not about her getting pregnant and deciding to keep the baby (I do have a problem with 17 year olds getting pregnant but I do not have a problem if they decide to keep the baby). World of difference between the role Obama's children play in his campaign and the role assigned Bristol Palin. Bristol Palin is being publicly humiliated to show her mother's Evangelical conservative "values." (My daughter is a sinner - love the sinner hate the sin - but she is forgiven because she has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior - thank you, oh, magical Jesus.) Bristol Palin is the victim of a ruthless, narcissistic mother who uses her children to serve her own ambitions.
To report child abuse call: 1-800-478-4444.
Never mind - Gov. Palin just fired them all.
Laura Bush is tip-top. She is clearly comfortable in her own skin, knows how to dress well and has the confidence to pull it all off. Cindy McCain? Not so much. What was with that dress? The mega-expensive jewels, etc? (Are they clueless or is that the Republican promise to the voters: vote for us, pay less taxes and maybe the "free" market will propel you into the top 1% ofearners and buy your wife tacky expensive jewelry. Has this always been the American dream?)
Regardless of whether you agree with their politics the most recent first ladies were, in their own ways, women of substance and style: Betty Ford, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush (ok, maybe not - pitbull in pearls is more like it), Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush.
I feel sorry for Cindy McCain - she is only 3 years older than I but she looks much older than I or any of my friends who are the approximately the same age as she. Marriage to John McCain must be very difficult, indeed. Nowadays women in their 50s are "young." Poor Cindy.
