This is GOOD news for Obama

The fact that there are more voters in these states who favor a generic Democrat over a generic Republican is - duh - good for the Democrats. It means that the majority of voters in these states want to kick out the Republicans. Why on earth would these voters not, in the end, vote for Obama? Just because these voters are not quite ready now to vote for Obama, it doesn't mean they won't be in November. These voters clearly want want a Democrat - they won't vote for McCain.

@nancerich

This is an excellent website for information about polling (and lost of other stuff): www.electoral-vote.com.

They have a comprehensive Polling FAQ page that answers many, many questions about Polling Methodology. To get there from the home page click on "Welcome", scroll down and click on "Polling Methodology File" to get to the Polling FAQs. Most of us really do not understand polls - and the way polls are presented to us by the media doesn't help. But if you read this info it will help to evaluate what poll results are or are not telling us.

They were magnificent

Hillary and Bill Clinton were tremendous when they spoke at the convention. All the silly talking heads are just about keeping a juicy narrative going - clearly they know absolutely nothing. I've been an Obama supporter for a while now but I have grown sick and tired of the media. Are there any journalists out there???

Anyway, back to the Clintons - I thought that Hillary's speech was terrific. She reached out to her supporters, she reminded them (and us) what this fight is all about. And, her "No way, no how, no McCain" hit the nail on the head. I also saw her when she moved that Obama be nominated by acclamation. Wow! That was a so real, so heartfelt and she looked happy and like she was having fun. It was a bruising primary season and lots of bitter feelings but it was clear that Hillary has a passionate love for her country and a deep commitment to move forward and solve the problems that face us.

Bill too was out of sight. If anyone has any doubts that he strongly supports Obama they simply don't get it. He mentioned Obama, what, 15 times? He directly addressed the "experience" thing - by reminding us that the media threw the same junk at home in '92. He highlighted the vast differences between Obama and Bush/McCain. All in all it was a great speech.

@KateTex

I am not sure what you would have Obama supporters do. Do you want us to keep the "hate" that you want to see in us going? I thought the Clintons were terrific on Tuesday and Wednesday. Would it make you feel better if there were some Obama supporters who don't agree with me and aren't willing to move on like the rest of us true blue dems are (I'm sure there are some)? But why hold on to the anger? Hillary is clearly ready to give her all - if you care about the future, please do the same.

Okay, people

We have an election to win, we have work to do. Enough sniping and bickering. Time to move this country forward and actually solve our problems.

I live in Northern Virginia - on Saturday and Sunday I'm going door-to-door for Obama/Biden, Mark Warner, and Judy Feder (CD 10). I am so proud that my home state of Virginia - home to many of our Founders (Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe...) - will help lead the country into the future ("Don't stop thinking about the future...") and bring us ever closer to the ideals of our Founders. On November 4th our 13 electoral votes will help put Barack Obama in the White House, when we elect Mark Warner we will have 2 Democrats in the Senate (Jim Webb) and we will have 3 Democrats in the House of Representatives. I am so blessed that I can be a part of this.

So, I look forward to meeting my neighbors and helping Turn Virginia Blue!!!

@jonaglen

I do not think that you were watching the same speech as I was. Michelle Obama smiled, stood and clapped enthusiastically throughout Bill Clinton's speech. Good God!! Do you think that, unless she is sitting there with an idiotic grin on her face the whole time, she is not sufficiently enthusiastic? Sheesh. In repose, Michelle's face looks serious (as do most faces) but when she smiles she looks like she is brimming with joy and enthusiasm.

@santos l. halper

I have been disappointed by "jeb" over and over again. She has never once responded to my letters. I do not by any means believe that I am brilliant or know everything (not even close) but I do think that at the age of 51 (on the verge of becoming a "wow" - wise old woman) I have accumulated some wisdom and developed the ability to communicate reasonably well. Sure, I can write moronic letters with the best. But I have also posted many letters that set forth facts (and I generally try to provide sources)to correct errors or inaccuracies I see on these posts. For instance, I posted a letter outlining the sequence of events that led to the meeting of the RBC which was designed to settle the MI & FL delegate situation. The reason I did that was that I see so many LWs who do not know how this all unfolded. Everyone has the right to his/her opinion but please don't be lazy, do the work, gather the evidence and then give us your opinion. (Also, provide citations!)

@Lived It

I too have wondered if the GOP wants Obama to win. Maybe they see that as their only hope - let the Dems take over, re-group and then hope the Dems screw up. Pretty pathetic, if true.
