Michelle W

I am out working hard to make sure that Obama wins Virginia. I make phone calls as many times a week as I can. I canvas as many weekends as I can. This weekend I'll be out on Saturday and Sunday. And, if I lived in Pennsylvania, I'd be doing the same. You have no idea how much support is out there for Obama (from Democrats, Republicans and Independents).

There are millions of us who want to ensure " that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." (Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address) This is why we are contributing to, volunteering for and voting for Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States of America.

Oh, Yeah, Forgot

11. Obama conspired with Yoko One to break up the Beatles.

12. Obama was the "second shooter."

Got my walking shoes on and I am ready to go

In about an hour I will be canvassing for Obama in Falls Church, VA. Went back to this thread to get pumped up. To all of you who posted smart, well-reasoned, reality-based letters - thanks - it boosts my confidence to know that most people are reasonable and will make the correct choice and vote for Obama in November. But it is the Republican mind-gamers on this thread who get me out the door with a spring in my step and a smile on my face. It is a beautiful day here in NoVa, perfect canvassing weather, and I plan to knock on as many doors as I possibly can. And then I will get up and do the same thing tomorrow!!

The change we need: government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Whooo-hooo!!

Knocked on 49 doors. Moderate income neighborhood that has been v. Republican in past. Talked to 18 people (guess people wanted to get out on this lovely day). Results: Strong Obama - 5; Lean Obama - 3; Undecided - 7 (4 said generally vote Republican); McCain - 2; 47 year old woman who said she doesn't follow politics - would for whoever her father tells her to - 1 (Whuh?!). Not one PUMA.

The commendably missing element from Obama's speech

There was no pretense that human rights is our goal, or the likely outcome, in escalating the war

Obama's exceedingly familiar justifications for escalation

The "new" approach to Afghanistan touted by White House officials seems quite old

America's regression

It's almost impossible to find a nation with as many torture advocates as the U.S. has.

Yes, it's Obama's war now

An uninspiring speech sells a dubious policy, but progressives who feel betrayed have only themselves to blame

Do Obama officials know what his Afghanistan plan is?

What explains the completely contradictory statements from key aides on a central plank of the war strategy?
