@doloresflower

Thank you - what you say is so important. Whether Clinton supporters or Obama supporters we are all Democrats and we all want an end to this insane war in Iraq and both Senators Clinton and Obama want an end to this insane war in Iraq. Yes, it is fun to mix it up, to treat politics like a game, trash the other "team" and all that. But this is not a game. It is real. Thank you doloresflower for reminding us of that. Peace to you.

@smoothyo

Regarding the "Hillary lied about her Bosnia trip" story - no one drank any media kool-aid because none was offered. There has been barely any media coverage of Hillary's, uh, "mis-statements." Even though the CBS footage of her trip - which proves that her account was, uh, "exaggerated" - is out there for all to see, this story has barely registered.

Yet, this is a very important story. It goes to the heart of Hillary's case that she should be President - her "experience." Her need to fabricate and exaggerate to make the case should set off alarms for any thinking voter. And it is not only the Bosnia story, it is also her claim that she was instrumental in bringing about peace in N. Ireland. And those 2 are just the beginning of a very long list of fabrications and exaggerations. And the media has done very little to examine these statements. She claims that she urged Bill to take action on Rwanda - has this claim been "vetted?" She claims that she was against NAFTA - yet there is no evidence to support that claim. Not only is there no evidence to support that claim, the fact that it was she who "winked" at the Canadians (i.e., I have to be anti-NAFTA to win over certain voters but, dear friends to the North, do not worry your NAFTA will be safe in my hands) and NOT Obama has been totally swept under the rug by the media. And the notion that there is any anti-Hillary bias is the biggest fabrication and exaggeration of them all.

@shawnwm "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..."

The question is why are we democrats? What do we stand for?

What I have seen with the Clinton campaign is that she stands for whatever she thinks will get her the most votes. Sure, she is a "fighter" but so what? What is she fighting for? That is what matters. Because it is not about winning only. Yes, you say, if the Democrats are not in power they cannot implement their policies (and those are????) but in 2006 the Dems took over Congress and what has changed? We are still bogged down in Iraq - how exactly has the 2006 election made a damn bit of difference to the country? 2006 - Dems take control with a lame duck President in office and they still can't do squat! Go back to the vote to invade Iraq - what difference was there between Dems and Repubs? Not much and certainly your Hillary marched in lock stop with the Republicans - so where's the difference? You know, I am not going to vote for a democrat simply because he or she is a democrat - who cares about party affiliation if it is not backed up by substance and core prinicples. (Which is not to say that I will vote for McCain either.) The real meaning of voting Democrat vs. Republican is which party's political hacks and operatives will get the plum jobs. Big deal.

Original article: Gender lessons

gender lessons

I believe that it is important ask what we've learned about sexism in this primary season. But I also believe that it is just as important to ask what we've learned about racism. Racism and sexism are not really separate problems - how we address BOTH says much about who we are as a society - do we believe in equal opportunity for everyone or do we not? It is in not in the interests of women or African-Americans to pit the sexism women face against the racism African-Americans face. Doing so only plays into the hands of those who would like to turn back the clock to the days when BOTH women and African-Americans were not allowed in the game. Yet that is what we are doing. Take a look at an article in today's Washington Post headlined: "Clinton-Obama Grudges Linger For Some Voters." The "grudges" discussed in the article: sexism vs. racism. Unfortunately, the photo that accompanies the article on page A4 will do nothing to further dialog aimed at coming together for a common cause. The photo shows a woman at a Clinton rally in Kentucky holding a sign that says: "Typical white person for Hillary." How is this helpful?
