Obama is a currently a presidential candidate, not a president. It's inexcusably sloppy journalism not to get a basic premise correct.

It should be noted that the article was published on 31 July 2006.

Also, nowhere does MaryBeth state in her essay that her husband refused to look for work. To the contrary. She wrote "Ultimately, it wasn't... the job search or the way we both had to hustle for freelance work".
