  • Lonesome Dove

Lonesome Dove is one of my all time favorite books and I am still haunted by Augustus McCrae's death. It is a book I will periodically reread unlike most of what I read. Did manage to get through Streets of Laredo and have Comanche Moon but I just hated to finish the trilogy.

I was very apprehensive about a tv version of LD but now feel the tv Lonesome Dove is just about perfect. I agree that Robert Urich is not my idea of Jake Spoon. Always thought maybe Sam Elliott would have been a good choice. I think I figured out he may have been making a movie with Whoopi Goldberg at the time.

Will watch Comanche Moon but not with any expectation of it matching Lonesome Dove. Steve Zahn should be interesting to watch.

  • Garrison Keillor the lecturer

Had the fortune to hear Mr. Keillor in Port Huron. All the hours of listening to Prairie Home Companion and then to be able to see him in person was wonderful. I wanted to tell him how much I enjoyed his writing and the program on NPR but I was just too shy to do it. If he does read this hope he will realize we enjoyed his trip to Port Huron, Michigan very much. Michigan is in dire straits right now but just hearing a story about the pontoon boat and ministers made me laugh and hope for the future.
