  • General Population

    [Read the article: The Fix]

    Lia

I'm part of the general population, and I had a "nose job" a few years back to fix a deviated septum. I've suffered from sinus issues for years, and the "nose job" allowed me to breathe out of my nose for the first time in years. I've known several others who have had the same thing done. It's just not usually called a nose job in the general public; you hear it called sinus surgery or fixing nasal problems.

    Jeff (who can breathe)

  • Reasons to not like air travel

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I live in Cincinnati, the most expensive market in the US. Delta holds this town in a stranglehold as a hub. Everytime a low cost airline comes into town Delta reduces fares for 5 minutes to lure passengers and we're back to being a one-airline city.

It's cheaper to drive to a nearby city, fly into Cincinnati and on to your destination than it is to fly directly out of Cincinnati. Many corporations in the area require employees to drive to Dayton or Indianapolis for business travel.

Recently, as Delta fought off 2 take-over offers, their executives warned of higher fares. After the offers were rejected, you guessed it, Delta raised their fares again.

The airlines are not a true capitalist market. They are a *heavily* subsidized industry. They are constantly restructuring their debts. We're paying employee pensions that have been dumped. We gave them billions after 9/11.

This is an industry crying for re-regulation. It becomes even more apparent when you get tone-deaf incidents like the JetBlue affair and columnists like this who condone it. The companies are putting their on-time statistics ahead of the well-being of their customers which is a quick way to get "the public's hatred."

  • $200?

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]

I just checked prices. Cincinnati to LAX is $600, $100 more than your suggested price for amenities and service. Do you honestly think I'll get those things if I took this flight? Seriously?

  • What he doesn't say

    [Read the article: Porn free]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What Matt doesn't say in his column is that he's gay. He mentions his heritage, his politics, and his affiliations, but no where does he discuss his affectional status.

Although he moonlights on the web as an escort and has appeared in a dozen or so films and calls himself a "top", Matt never once mentions that he's gay.

    I find it very telling.

  • The Fix

[Read the article: Goodbye to the Fix, for now]

Let's see. Salon has a feature that's been one of its most popular for 8 years now. The editor likes it; the readers like it.

We're told it's going on "hiatus" while they decided what to do, even though it's likely they had multiple weeks notice that the writer was leaving. Finally, the readers are told after several days that the Fix has been dropped indefinitely for videos and tech coverage?

So talking rabbits are less prevalent and worth more to the readers of Salon than a cogent review of the entertainment world including a great listing of who is appearing on the talk shows?

Perhaps Salon is ready to work for the Bush administration, where popular is unpopular and readers wanting a brief review of pop culture are instead fed a diet of tech and video.

  • Another Day, another hiatus

[Read the article: Goodbye to the Fix, for now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So if the Fix was axed on Friday, why is there another notice saying "on hiatus" on Saturday???

  • Tobias meet Haggard

[Read the article: Next time, try Domino's]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wow, there seem to be a lot of Bushies getting "massages" lately. Must be a lot of stress.

First Reverend Ted, who is against gays, gets a massage from a man. Now Tobias, who is married and pushes abstinence, gets a massage from a woman. In both cases, they denied any wrong doing. This is just another case of hypocrisy.

  • But is she ??

[Read the article: Condi Rice never looks back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ok, maybe it's because Salon got rid of The Fix, but part of me wants to read this book to learn if Mabry has anything to say about Condi's sexuality. Rumors have swirled around her just as they did around Janet Reno 10 years ago.

It would be SO telling if an African-American lesbian was a Republican. I don't think it's possible to get more self-hating than that.

  • Pot meet Kettle

[Read the article: A cause they've long ago forgotten]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What a crass solipsist, clod and yahoo O'Donnell is -- and what a bad advertisement for both liberalism and lesbianism

  • Before, during or after

[Read the article: Paul Wolfowitz's fatal weakness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Salon's article said: She had been working at the bank since the late 1990s, and the two had become involved when she divorced her husband and he became estranged from his wife

"When" is a vague word. Were they having an affair which caused the divorces or did they meet post-divorce? It adds another layer of hypocrisy to the story if they were cheaters as well.

  • Joe's Colors

[Read the article: Joe Klein's stirring defense of Lewis Libby]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Seriously, why do we care what Joe Klein thinks about honesty? It was only a decade ago that Klein was lying to the MSM about his involvement with the book "Primary Colors." He certainly showed then that he was not above playing fast and loose with the truth when it suited his own career. Why should anyone be surprised that he defends Libby?

  • Hostile work environment

[Read the article: Her sexy T-shirt says "Kitty Not Happy" -- is that OK at work?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

All other issues aside, this is sexual harassment in the workplace 101. Her T-shirt, regardless of intent, has caused a co-worker to become uncomfortable because of the double entendre which many people on here can see. He complained and nothing was done. He could now take this to the HR department and complain to them as well.

While you might think him a prude or sexualizing the T-shirt slogan, he has followed the standard protocol for sexual harassment. The girl should do the same and dress without slogans on her T-shirts.
