Interesting that Dailykos is big enough now that this is news
[Read the article: Daily Kos writers' "strike" gets ugly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It certainly seems quite ignored, for the widespread influence that it generates, and the generally *extremely* well-done and even wonky articles it regularly produces, on all progressive and political topics.
I haven't even seen another blog cover "Peak Oil" the way it has, for instance. Or Sibel Edmonds (side note: want to make some real good web TV, Salon? Just interview her and post it. If you dare.)
It's a shame that this primary pie fight has taken such front stage on dailykos. But the facts are as they're laid out by Kos: Hillary is in second place in *every single way*. Period. And if she cares about having the Democrats win the White House in 2008, she should soon withdraw. That's just the facts.
It's a shame that a lot of the posters on Dailykos don't like this reality. Speaking for myself a regular Dailykos poster (and Edwards supporter), they're welcome back at any time, but they won't be missed.

Non-Korean honky hazards a guess
[Read the article: Suburban housewife seeks Asian stud]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm guessing that the reason Korea (or at least South Korea) has more Christianity than other Asian nations, is mostly due to the Korean War. During and after the war, I expect a lot of Western churches were encouraged to proselytize in South Korea, to help it stay a proper bulwark against Godless Communism.
And of course, it also presented an opportunity to many churches who sincerely wanted to help their fellow man, as well as convert others to their church.
I would also guess that this occurred less in Viet Nam because the US was much more resented by the populace once they left, and there was less of an ongoing Westernization effort afterwards...

It's not a stalemate. Obama's won.
[Read the article: Whose fault is the Clinton-Obama stalemate?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary is just refusing to leave the field, when it is *mathematically impossible* for her to win.
To that extent, I guess it's Obama's fault, because he defeated her.

How's "I'm fine with a woman candidate but I just don't like Hillary because" she's said she thinks McCain would be better than Obama?
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann apologizes for his Clinton remark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And/or:
- any state she doesn't win, suddenly doesn't matter
- any demographic she doesn't win, suddenly doesn't matter
- now that she's realized she's lost the popular vote to Obama, suddenly the popular vote doesn't matter
- it's been mathematically impossible for her to win without superdelegate intervention for weeks now, but she remains in the campaign, apparently uncaring if this costs the Democrats the White House in 2008.
I'm all for opposing sexism. I just want to make the distinction between disliking Hillary for purely sexist reasons, and disliking here because she really is a bad candidate who has shown poor judgement and mediocre character.

Don't see Paul as the demon some here apparently do
[Read the article: I dated Cindy Sherman ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I kind of wonder if I'm reading the same interview as some of the other posters here.
This Paul H-O sounds to me like someone who was in a 5-year relationship in with a partner that, while loving, was not at all equal. And it sounds like he has made an honest movie about this situation - including all the way through the breakup. And through this, he's attempted to illustrate this *sort* of relationship - one in which one person is not at all well known, and another person is extremely well off and in the elite of their profession.
Which to me sounds more interesting than Cindy Sherman's work. At least, for me. I've seen her pictures, and they're good. But this movie has more resonance and interest for me, psychologically. For what it's worth.
It doesn't sound to me that he's blaming her, as much as being matter of fact.
And ultimately, this film was made with the full knowledge and consent of Cindy Sherman, up through having input on how it's edited. She may not like the final result - so what? She's had input, but it's not her art. It's his. She doesn't have veto power.
In this film, I expect she has some warts on display. I expect he does also. This is how humanity is. Perfection doesn't even exist in art, let alone real life. That's what's beautiful about life and art.

Not sure what your point is, Elephantman
[Read the article: Daniel Amen responds to "Brain scam"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you have anything specific to say about Salon's criticisms of Dr. Amen, or Dr. Amen's response?

Oh are you frakking KIDDING ME??? This is an issue? What?
[Read the article: Quote of the Day: Barack Obama ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Barack Obama says "Sweetie" to a woman, and you are actually offended?
For frakking REAL?
I'm a guy, and I have female friends who call me sweetie or similar, all the time. I've also had strangers behind counters, in informal business situations, etc. call me sweetie or whatever. Are they being sexist to me? Should I be offended?
I mean COME ON! How about some things that matter? Like, say, oh I don't know:
infant childcare for the poor
health care
maternity leave
unequal wages
domestic abuse
breast cancer
rights of women around the world
Huh? Maybe they could use some attention too? What do you think?
And don't freaking tell me you can combat those by conquering the tyranny of the word "sweetie".

I can't believe you just SAID that!!!
[Read the article: Quote of the Day: Barack Obama ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Some of you "boys" are mighty dense.
Whaaaaaat?? (Gasp) How dare you minimize that! I'm a MAN! Don't you realize what you're doing to me?
This absolutely shows you are too sexist to be trusted! Why are you so evil?
What do you mean this isn't a real issue? What do you mean it's a meaningless distraction, even if it's pushing my buttons? Those are MY BUTTONS! They matter more than any real life-and-death issue you can name!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!
Sigh....
