Used to be the section i read first, but it's been a long long time since any decent articles on either Tech OR Business has been posted
I know the dot.com hayday is past, but there are still a lot of interesting things to write about. Wish Salon would hire a new editor for the section...

* still love Ask the Pilot!

What a treat. no really. first few episodes i was getting woried about the whole cutie angle, but that works itself out. i honestly end each episode hoping that her agency works out!
if you don't have Oxygen (huh? i had never heard of the network before...) just download the torrents and enjoy the fun.
unlike contest-reality shows this is just following our favorite crazy judge from ANTM (and of course showing us 30min of "reality" out of a week? or more of life) as she tries to get her shit together and get some models jobs
fun!
- so you think you can dance is fun too, but i honestly don't "get" some of the dances
i mean, look at the AZ Cardinals.
without that fancy new stadium they wouldn't have been able to spend all that money on better players, or been able to keep their super talented coach! i can't imagine where the team would be in the standings without the cash from all those luxury boxes.
blogs and salon... a poor implementation of comments all around. who thought not implemeting threads was acceptable?
usenet is threaded, slashdot has been threaded since day 1, no reason why salon can't look like reddit's comments! check out:

(not for the quality of the posts but for the read-ability of the discussion)
this article is an extreme case with 200+ comments, but in general salon's comments section is one of the most un-readable, most click-intensive comments section around!
What really blew McCain out of the water was not Wolf's questions but the strikingly incredulous response from CNN's Baghdad correspondent who, bluntly and emphatically, pointed out that McCain was full of it.

April-May-June have been very good months of tv (other than Heroes, much better than the "regular" season for me).
great season of the shield
wrap up of the sopranos (the shield episodes have kept my attention more this season - but i can't wait to see the last episode)
and a great season 3 of Doctor Who (thank you bittorrent)
the shield rocks in my book. one of the tv shows i was most looking forward to this season. (i'll hold off on the wire praise, i have all the seasons on my htpc and unlike most tv, they hold up to repeated viewing)
now i'm waiting for season 2 of Dexter!
Wait, gardening? writing? Think about it for a moment. Where, exactly, is the CHILD when you are doing these things?
I have a baby and that's what I do. When she's napping I'm lucky to make sure we have clean clothes and sheets, and catch up on my own sleep. My husband is great and he helps out, but caring for a baby is 24 hours a day, every. Single. Day.
I used to have hobbies. In theory I still do. If you have more than one you're looking at a good 6 years before you can think about hobbies again. If that's not for you, don't have kids. Seriously.
thanks for the spoiler, why not put her picture up there too?

NOT COOL, EDITORS.
Seriously.
I did not enjoy being treated to a picture of a dead animal at the top of my page when I hit Salon. Much better to link to the pic from the article, or embed it in the article.
Not, not, not okay.
PLEASE do not compare Sarah Palin to a wolf. It is deeply, shockingly unfair to the wolf.
#1) The Shield. By far my favorite thing this season.
#2) Friday Night Lights. best season yet. by FAR.
#3) Family Feud. John O'Hurley is a great host. I usually watch one or two day while cooking or watching the toddler. Classic game show that hasn't lost it's touch.
#4) Wolverine and the X-men. Cartoon on some channel I don't get. oh wait, I mean: a cartoon I download every week. Nice story so far. Pretty good art.
#5) Dexter. Sigh. still good, but it's no longer great. Plus, episode 6 had a huge continuity error in the blinds behind Debra (the blinds were wrong! the blinds were wrong!) basically sums my feelings about the season: there was a continuity error in the blinds.
95% of the recipes call for a vacuum chamber (cheapest one you can buy starts around $1000) and are very difficult to accomplish with a 'standard' food-saver type system. (assuming you already have a setup to keep your water bath at the specific temp- think $250ish or $1000)
French Laundry is a much better coffee table book
My favorite of his books is Bouchon. At least I feel that I can cook most of the items in there (and they are really good)
