"'Woman/Perfect..Man/Satan'?"
[Read the article: My boyfriend dumped me and I'm desolate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Lecastor
Do you view everything in the universe in terms of 'Woman/Perfect..Man/Satan'?
Must be nice to live in such a black & white world.
Good to see you email from there now & again.

I feel like you didn't understand anything I said. In fact, i was defending men from Laurel's homespun sexist attack. Laurel's rant about how women are gullible enough to be "tricked" by men into living together without getting married had many underlying assuptions:
1) Women want to get married and men don't, so men try to dodge the bullet by tricking women into living with them so they can get the sex for free.
2) Women are so desperate to get married (or stupid) that they fall for the "living together" ruse.
3) Men think, "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?!"
Now, i, contrary to thinking "man/satan," believe (thanks to my male and female friends) that not all men are like this, and not all women are like this.
As for No Name using not wanting to have children as evidence (partial) of an abusive relationships, i'm standing up for men and women who are perfectly wonderful people who just don't want to have children.
I relaly don't see how my post says 'Woman/Perfect..Man/Satan,' or how it puts everythig into black and white terms. In fact, I argue for more diversity of point of views, rather than the ignorant comfort of "all men are X" etc.
PS As for my grandma thinking that if a woman isn't married by the age of 30, there's something wrong with her and she's a tragedy, the greatest irony is that grandma herself got married at 31. So she's just a big hypocrite.

Wow
[Read the article: A mighty dick]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Where to begin? Blame it on his cultural heritage, or just that he's an idiot? Everyone refer back to the defenders of arranged marriage & the culture of the Indian subcontient on the Cary Tennis thread a few weeks ago.

Thinner's obnoxious present self
[Read the article: My big fat obnoxious former self]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i'm not even close to being overweight, but Thinner here is just going to town with his broad brush and hatred. You should like one of those sinewy high-string people i know who stalk the halls of Whole Foods. And not the good sections, like the coffee or the cheese, but those dietary supplements and those crazy fiber cereals.

Banker boy
[Read the article: My boyfriend dumped me and I'm desolate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You need change for a $5? I'll tell my assitant.
That's right, summer associates have assitants. Are you someone's assitant?

Summer Associate Xanadu
[Read the article: My boyfriend dumped me and I'm desolate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't understand the LeCastor hate either. And i know, the fact that summer associates at investment banks have assiStants may be hard to believe, but it's true. They wouldn't pay us summers the amount they pay us to make copies and coffee. We get paid to actually do substantive, brain-intensive work. The group i work in has 2 assistants for about 10 attorneys.
To be perfectly frank, if you haven't heard of the life that a summer associate has, or what the word "associate" (as opposed to analyst or assistant) means in the context, (1) that's your problem, no mine, (2) you've probably never been to law or business school. Summer associates at law firms in NYC are paid $2400-2800 per week (investment banks pay less). It's not my fault, so don't take it out on me :)

Kroger v. Whole Foods
[Read the article: My big fat obnoxious former self]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Lecastor's
a snob, too?
Do you understand that at least 2/3's of the people in this world struggle to even get something to eat from day to day?
And yet YOU feel the need to show your superiority by looking down at Kroger shoppers.
Give your boy/girlfreind my sympathy.
-- Shadow
Oh please. Thinner here is going on and on about how healthy he is, but he shops at Kroger, which hardly offers any organic food. Yes, Whole Foods is expensive, but the quality is pretty top notch, only to be beaten by local farmers' markets. If you're gonna look down on people for eating Pizza Hut, then you deserve to be looked down on for eating GM veggies that have pesticides all over them, and all sorts of other crap, like sweetener, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Eating those things is not "eating well." Plus, Whole Foods is more expensive, but they sell fair trade coffee and the like, so you're supporting all sorts of farmers who don't have to work like wetback slaves.
As for my boyfriend, he's even more obsessed with eating healthily and deliciously than I am. :)

Bank tellers
[Read the article: My big fat obnoxious former self]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The bank teller must have her "out to lunch" sign posted at her drive-up window again.
But thanks for wasting your lunch hour to lecture us on your bullshit theories about grocery shopping, LeCastor. We all really appreciate it. Don't forget to count the money twice before making change for the customers. Your till has to balance at the end of your shift or you'll get written up...again.
-- Leave it to that Beaver
i know it must irk you to no end, but i most likely, make more money as a summer associate than you do at your job, assuming you have one. Now i have to go get my lunch. I hope they have that seafood risotto again in the cafeteria.

NNG, you're right
[Read the article: My boyfriend dumped me and I'm desolate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And for the record, i did acknowledge that it was "part" of your evidence, but i still think that it's a pretty outrageous claim.
as for parson jim, don't believe me, take a look at this website:
http://www.nalpdirectory.com/
It's a directory of law firms. If you want the top firms, search for Wachtell or Sullivan & Cromwell. B-list would be Schulte. C-list King and Spalding. Click on the new york office and then scroll to the salary.
And if you're interested in what investment banking pays, see here
http://www.vault.com/hubs/channelmain.jsp?chm_page=9&ch_id=240&type=1
Summer associates get a weekly salary that is calculated from a base salary of $58K-$85K, depending on the bank.
