[Read the article: For his sake, fake it like you mean it!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First off, i don't understand your tone, either. We can have a calm and amicable discussion.
If you think that a 29 year old woman having consensual intercourse with a fourteen year old boy is the same as a 29 year old man having consensual intercourse with a fourteen year old girl, with the adult in each case deserving equal punishment, you're not wise enough to bring anything of value to a discussion on sexuality and the law, although a puritannical society would certainly back up your ridiculous opinion.
In fact, they end up having about the same sentences in our legal system. HArd to believe, but true: http://www.slate.com/id/2134158/
Similarly, if you think, considering the weight of recent history, that a black kid calling a white kid 'cracker' or 'honkie' is the same as a white kid calling a black kid 'nigger' or 'coon', and qualifies as an equivalent 'hate crime', you're silly. Further, if you would attempt to persuade us, given the average difference in physical power between men and women of roughly equivalent heights, and the mean difference in size and weight of the average heterosexual couple, that female-to-male domestic abuse is just as pressing a problem as male-to-female abuse, I'd be forced to call you either a nitwit or a dreamer.
Well, physical stature is important for domestic abuse problems, but i don't see how this normally distributed difference affects orgasms. As for domestic abuse, it's a problem, for the victim, regardless of gender.
Knee-jerk symmetry as an approach to social issues is responsible for non-starters such as the concept of 'reverse discrimination' (used to argue against affirmative action in both gender and race contexts), bi-lingual street signs in Wales ('taxi/tacsi'), mulatto neo-Nazis in East Berlin, and...well, gee, aren't heterosexual male prostitutes just rolling in dough?
I really don't see what the problem is with bilingual street signs in Wales, and the mulatto neo-Nazis. Male prostitutes actually do earn more money per hour than female ones, as for affirmative action, i support it, but i think that once we all just fuck and fuck and fuck until we're all the same color, it might not be necessary.
Yes, of course, there's no theoretical reason why there can't be a Top Ten all-black bluegrass band, or male wet nurses (given modern hormone technology), or female bodyguards of South-East Asian descent...and so forth. Plenty of sophomoric philosophical and ethical principles which appear functional on paper turn out to be untenable in practise. It takes an observant human with an average IQ and no axes to grind nor baggage to carry about twenty one years, from birth, to figure all this out.
So what exactly is your point about women and orgasms, then?
This recognition of natural asymmetries in human life is as likely to generate good as it is to generate evil...the results are dependent not on the recognition itself but on the wisdom of interpretation (or lack thereof; or evil, or lack thereof) of whatever legislative body...or in the surrounding society itself. Ignoring the Truth is not a safeguard against Injustice in the longterm. If anything, it's a precondition for same.
The "Truth"? With a capital T? You've lost me, IQ-boy.
But all that's just a sideshow to the original Weldon-related issue of contention, which some(one) among you interprets as being an attempt by certain comment-posters to take away her right to a male-facilitated orgasm. It's clear at this point that it's impossible to persuade her otherwise.
Should we all just take up a collection and buy her a nice big ____?
Um, your point is?

Affluent people have feelings too
[Read the article: I'm young, rich and beautiful but so very unhappy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's the lesson of this letter.
But what i don't understand is why you people think it's okay to insult her and put her down just because she's rich. For some reason, you think she shouldn't complain because she's "well off." It's not her fault she was born into the family she was born into any more than it's your fault for being born into your non-affluent family.
It's just stunning. You know, all of you who are slamming her, remember, don't write to Cary with any of your problems, or even talk about them, because, guess what?! compared to someone else, you're incredibly "well off," and shouldn't complain. Most of you live in the US, which is already pretty nice. all of you either have enough money to have a computer, or have access to one, which is probably better than 99% of the people on this planet. You can read and write. I could go on and on.
So, if you have a right to complain about your problems, so does she.

uted but this doesn't mean than in reality, and it IS the reality, a 30year old woman can have sex with a 15 year old boy with FAR FAR greater likelihood that she will not be punished than is the case for a man with a young teenage girl.
[Read the article: For his sake, fake it like you mean it!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In fact, they end up having about the same sentences in our legal system. HArd to believe, but true:
"normal" sex between a 14 year old boy and a 30 year old woman is much less likely to be discovered and punished than in the reverse case. It is apparently true that the punishments turn out to be equal in cases which are prosecuted but this doesn't mean than in reality, and it IS the reality, a 30year old woman can have sex with a 15 year old boy with FAR FAR greater likelihood that she will not be punished than is the case for a man with a young teenage girl.

I guess i'm not sure how you know this. Is there a study? Is just an assumption?
