totally discouraged

I find it incredibly discouraging that a paper like yours could even thing of printing a column like Gary's The dominatrix. Your column is partially devoted to uncovering sexism. If you are doubtful about whether his column is sexist, I suggest you give up. If you are not doubtful, why aren't you mentioning it in your column as one of the really worst examples of sexism I have seen.

From an Obama supporter.

where are you

I read and agreed with your columns about Hillary C and sexism. But Gary's The dominatrix in terms of sexism is about the worst I've seen. Since you care about sexism, since you let him publish his article, and since many readers are outraged, perhaps you might want to explain your reasoning.

what's a little lie or two?

OK. She lies some. Who cares? So do we. We complain and complain about sexism but thin that printing Gary's The dominatrix is just fine. Well, maybe it's a tad sexist. What the hell. It's our side that's doing it, so that's okay

From an obama supporter who is beginning to think it doesn/t make any difference--all that matters is that any mud you throw should be aimed at the opponent.

Rush Limbaugh

I am a ardent Democrat. I always thought Rush Limbaugh was the lowest of the low, not because of his point of view, but because of his sexism, meaness, willingness to say anthing about anyone to make his point, etc. etc. I haven't changed my mind. But I now christen Gary the Rush of the left.

just ignore Gary--he's not relevant in a discussion of sexism

What an important subject. Let's just ignore the incredible display of sexism in your own paper today. (Gary's column) After all what difference does his column make--just so he's on our side he can be as offensive and sexist as I've ever seen. Why would a column like your that devotes itself to discussing the presentation of women even mention Gary's column. After all he's on our side.

lrtrose is absolutely right

"ยท Who needs Karl Rove when we've got Gary Kamiya

This is the kind of reporting from the "Liberal" media that put the Hillary supporters off...and it's just the kind of thing to make them defend, if not support Palin. Why can't our liberal countryMEN get that sexism damages everyone? Deeper still that the Dems cannot claim the moral high road on human rights until they get that women are human. Nobody (left or right) would sexually stereotype Obama...it would be called racist to the max.

At the heart of this ridiculous article is the issue that may cost the dems the election unless someone like Obama or Biden steps up and calls it out. Women rail against misogyny and are told we have no sense of humor. We tried to call it out during the Primary and the media called it "whining." Obama wasn't "whining" over the New Yorker cover. Even McCain defended him. Hell, we don't need Karl Rove to orchestrate the democratic defeat, we've got "progressive" male democrats on that path.

I'm a Clinton supporter for Obama, lifetime Democrat, and I have to spend my time defending the human rights of a right-wing ideologue because (once again) the progressive males of my party can't keep it in their pants and keep focused on issues crucial for the survival of the country and the planet.

Argh, I have to get off the computer."

how democrats fight

Your paper shows how. You print a man's wet dream about Palin and consider that newwsworthy. I am a white Obama supporter and consider writing about the wet dream on a par with writing an article about how whites support Obama as part of a conspiracy to raise the price of watermelon.

Salon is in great part devoted to unearthing sexism and exposing unfair press coverage. It is so impressive that none of the editors have chosen to take up the subject of Gary's column.

Original article: Pissed about Palin

This is just silly.

I am quite opposed to Sarah Pallin. But this article is silly. It's also sexist, but the sillines obscures that. I expect better analysis from my elementary school children. If all they come up with is a series of insults, I tell them they don't know the issues. Does the author or do the readers relly think the sentence quoted below says anything insightful or meaningful? Come on people, grow up.

"She's such a power-mad, backwater beauty-pageant casualty, it's easy to write her off and make fun of her. But in reality I feel as horrified as a ghetto Jew watching the rise of National Socialism."

Does that sentence really have anything at all to do with why we oppose Pallin?
