Just as Salon has brought about a fresh look and usage with the 10th anniversary site redesign, is it not time to bring Table Talk into the modern era by using a more robust, easier to use BBS (bulletin board system) set-up. Yes, it will bring screaming fits to those used to the old way. But imagine the possibilities of real message threading and topic organization?
In one way, the new Letters to the Editor is a boon for immediacy of reponses (and the Editors Choice a way to sort through the dross). But to dynamic give-and-take, nothing beats a BBS.
I don't watch regularly but if I happen to still be up at 12:30am, I'll flip on the TV and watch the opening of The Late Late Show. I usually don't care who the guests are, and am never disappointed in Craig Ferguson's opening monologues. Sometimes he'll just be silly (like when he changes wigs in front of the green screen) but he's never mean.
...it ought not detract from these two kids' effort. The choreography, the foley work, the music and sound editing are pretty good.
Despite ups and downs (and a lot of down since Season 3), I'll miss TWW. I just started rewatching the whole series from S1. I bought S6 DVD set on Tuesday. I can't wait for this final set (S7) to come out.
that name had been tickling in the back of my mind for awhile then i realized: hey, that's the guy who brought us "The New Adventures of Brisco County, Jr."
Cambia is a Australian-based non-profit research org trying to "open source" agricultural biotechology. First is developing new molecular biology tools that get around the IP problems then making them available to researchers. Second is developing then making available useful crop strains. http://www.cambia.org/
However, you are right in that it begs the question: what is the non-tech solution. I don't have good numbers in front of me but it has been suggested that present agricultural production could feed the whole world but that the problem is the politics of trade and distribution. But even that gets complicated when the US sends corn to African countries but it is rejected socially because while the US grows and eats _yellow_ corn, most of the rest of the world grows and eats _white_ corn. Thus when US yellow corn arrives abroad, it is not palitable to the local diet plus has the stigma of being "foreign aid" (think "US Government surplus cheese bricks" to welfare families for a domestic parallel.)
I miss Nina's Adventures in Santa Cruz (and all other places)....

If one includes Riverside county.... I'm intrigued just because having been forced to live in the IE for six years now, I'm curious to see how Lynch portrays it as Mullholland East or Lumberton South.... :-)
so like can we hang out?
Although, more politely, I'd liken the lines for the iPhone more akin to the lines of Apple fans who await the opening of a new Apple Store: it is about sharing your enthusiasm with others of the "Cult." It is AN EVENT. While I'm sure there will be a share of those craving the latest tech (ala PS3) or those hoping to scalp the iPhone on eBay (also ala PS3), I {expect | hope} most are there to be part of the camaraderie.
I, myself, have to work and have offered money for one of my nephews to stand in line for me... :-)
2.0 is where it is at, says the applefan boy posting from his iPhone.
NPR Day to Day interviewed one of the GQ editors. They skipped Bush and Cheney as being too obvious. While Hillary and Barak are on the list, none of the Republican presidential front runners (Guliani, Thompson, Romney) are on the list because their campaigns are not based out of Washington DC.
That a hair stylist is 40-something means take list with large grain of salt. :-)
For about a 6-7 month period, I had a hacking cough that just wouldn't go away no matter how many OTC meds or how much tylenol+codeine my doctor gave me. It started during the winter is my peak allergy season but didn't go away when it became spring then summer. It wasn't until after I bruised my ribs and went to urgent care did another doctor realize that a very rare side effect of my blood pressure medications is a hacking cough in some 1-2% of the population. Switched to another hypertensive medication and the cough just disappeared. There are a lot of possible reasons, some may not be obvious.
In that time, I did a lot of apologizing to co-workers and was avoided by a lot of people not wanting to catch whatever I had. More scary, a few times I almost passed out while driving because of a coughing fit.
