The emperor's new clothes
[Read the article: Making Colbert go away]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stephen Colbert's genius is not in suggesting that the emperor has no clothes--people have been doing that for years. What's unique is his ability to say that the emperor's flight suit is two sizes too small and bulges in conspicuous places, and to say it to his face.

Watch vs. Warning
[Read the article: From the Karl Rove indictment watch? Silence, mostly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well, a watch means that conditions are favorable for a particular weather event that has not formed yet. A warning means that a weather event has formed, and that it threatens the area under warning.

It's about the constitution, not politics
[Read the article: Ready or not, here she comes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think we have to take the broader historical view here. The issue of impeachment is not about partisan politics, but about a constitutional crisis in which the Administration not only has abrogated liberties, but also has arrogated powers unto itself. To fail to impeach the President is to allow partisan politics to have cheapened the constitution. President Clinton was impeached for much, much less than we have countenanced with this administration. Republicans made impeachment about politics; by pursuing it, Democrats would return it to its constitutional duty.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oooh, should I register the domain name? The double entendre would be too delicious.

Canaries in a coal mine
[Read the article: Main Street's body count rises]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A few years ago, and for a few years, I worked with a pretty affable fellow who could defuse any situation with his ready sense of humor. I and a few of his former coworkers were shocked to read he had murdered his wife and committed suicide, as covered on local TV and reported in the Boston Globe.

While in the final act this is to be considered domestic violence, and stereotypical male roles inhere (go it alone, be the provider), the economic circumstances cannot be ignored.
