QS - One of my daughters was on it. We used to say, "We like the way it Effexor!" Then we didn't.

Derbig - I've been meaning to send this to you and since Glenn seems to be away (perhaps planning nuptials himself), why not now:

I had ‘em rolling is the aisles with this anecdote at my younger daughter’s bat mitzvah a couple years ago.

The bat mitzvah girl and I were driving to grandma’s and were looking at various vanity plates and she remarked to me, “Daddy do you know what license plate I want when I get big?” “What, my little pumpkin?” “EVILJEW,” she replied. Well, I mumbled that I didn’t know what the DMV would think about that, and when we got home I said to Mrs. Snoid, “Bad news, dear. Do you know what she wants to be? It’s EVILJEW.” Turning from the sink, she fixed her most radiant smile on me and exclaimed, Jew? ……………………… Great!

Gonna miss ya, bro. Point of view interesting; links enlightening. Leaving because of self-induced problems with GC a sad, sad way to go. As many have pointed out before, the scroll wheel is your friend. Perhaps we'll see you again down the road.

Brooks (as referenced by Glenn) tore into Obama about Hezbollah: "Does Obama believe that even the most intractable enemies can be pacified with diplomacy? What “Lebanese consensus” can Hezbollah possibly be a part of?"

Today: Hezbollah granted veto power over all Lebanese government decisions. "We view this agreement as a positive step toward resolving the current crisis," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a statement. "We call upon all Lebanese leaders to implement this agreement in its entirety."

Can the incoherency of Republican foreign policy be topped? It is simply breathtaking!

Never surrender to anarchy. I mean, where would you even sign the papers?

No way Jose on Ari. It's a matter of who's really devoted to Teh Lobby.

Thanks for the Dylan comments. You do realize though that your first one (yesterday 7:20) has got it backwards It goes "smoked my eyelids and punched my cigarette" a reference to his then manager, Albert Grossman who chain smoked cigarettes through his fist and who Dylan felt had defrauded him (smoked his eyelids). But you knew that.

    @ valkyrie607

"Neocons like Ledeen can never conceive that they might be being played by guys smarter than them."

You got that, bro, especially A-rabs! (or Iranians)

The operative conjecture is that he sold out to the perceived interests of other congressional dems who needed to hide their own enabling role in repub illegalities. He is now their leader.

PS BucksfromMcCain: didn't you say you had to go to your other job?

"throwing hundred dollar bills onto the floor of the stock exchange"

Big inflation, William. You mean "throwing hundreds of dollar bills..." Much greater impact.

"About eighteen of us showed up. When we went in the guards immediately confronted us. 'You are hippies here to have a demonstration and we can't allow that in the Stock Exchange.' "Who's a hippie? I'm Jewish and besides we don't do demonstrations, see we have no picket signs,' I shot back. The guards decided it was not a good idea to keep a Jew out of the Stock Exchange, so they agreed we could go in."

[Read the article: The New Republic syndrome]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    What you said, William.

I remember "exactly the sorts of fanatics who tore the party apart in the late 1960s and early 1970s" very well. I was in a little "Marxist study group" at UCSC during the 70-71 school year. Baran & Sweezy's "Monopoly Capital" was our bible in those days. The "Vanguard" (and practically the only members of the group) were me TNR editor-to-be John Judis, and father-to-be of TNR contributor, Isaac Choitner, Harry (himself nephew of Murray of Nixon fame). Those were the days.

I subscribed to and enjoyed TNR for many years, especially as I was undergoing Soviet detox after publication of "The Gulag Archipelago." Subsequently, the magazine became completely obsessed with ZDS (Zionist Derangement Syndrome). After the 2002-3 war build-up this became unbearable and I cancelled.

Now that the Islamofacist meme combines every Israeli-oriented Jew's two worst nightmares and the US has its own Occupied Territory to defend, ZDS can color even TNR's FISA position. Not even imaginary ground can be ceded to Terrorists.

  • Glenn & Keith

[Read the article: Keith Olbermann: Then and now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What distinguishes Glenn's journalism is that it is first and foremost principled. As an MSM entertainer, Keith is a marketing strategy. The "O'Reilly of the Left" needs not worry about FISA consistency. His job is to generate ratings by carrying on a fight with Fox. In this fight he will be at least as principled as Fox. That's all. Fox will support the Repugs, Keith, the dems (Obama). The contest is where the money lies.

Meanwhile, thanks to Omooex for the article (12:54). We've not only got ourselves our very own Occupied Territories, but our New Palestinians, too! Are those AIPAC dudes winners, or what?
