Maureen the Magnificat Last Seen Permitting Herself To Speak With Paranoid Street People!
[Read the article: Let's give "Blue Dogs" the boot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]American though I may be, I live one hour east of thee (in terms of Zones, that is). I'm so completely wrong about your Dowd obsession that you spend more than half of your comment space carrying on about her. I wonder what that means? (being more of a Jungian sort I could only guess what Herr Doktor Sigmund would say, but I rather imagine you wouldn't be interested about that).
Thanks for the advice about using the wall as a strategy against being accosted by strangers. I don't rely on them for kindness but, on occasion I've had a few interesting encounters, the last being in Arromanches about six weeks or so. My friends and I were vestly entertained by the fellow. I'm not much for Harvey Wallbangers (is the Headbanger a cock of a different color? Actually, for we heathen of the American persuasion a mixed drink (such as a Martini or Whiskey Sour or Manhattan, or a Harvey Headbanger is a cocktail. For us, a shot is one ounce of undiluted liquor.)
Should you deign to grace me with a further response I shall see it in the morning. I need to go get closer to the wall so my hair will unclench .......

Cleansing the Party?
[Read the article: Let's give "Blue Dogs" the boot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hyperbole is a spice best used with discretion, Nananance. The only people saying that ALL elected Democrats should be Liberal on EVERY ISSUE are people such as you. This repeated misrepresentation of what Glenn wrote is, in fact, right out of the Republican playbook. My question to you is, are you not a very careful reader and simply didn't get it? or are you one of the trool minion who "manned the barracades" to defend the status quo because you are quite happy with it (for what reason or purpose we might only guess)?
What Glenn has called for, all along, is not that all Democrats even be Liberal or Progressive BUT that they do agree on, and steadfastly support, certain core principles such as defending vigorously, and not just paying lip service to, the Constitution. Pissing on the Fourth Amendment is NOT ON. This is why we are calling on Chris Carney and Steny Hoyer to be held accountable for their actions.
The Democratic Party needs core values and to stand on them firmly and proudly. The Party will be respected by real Conservatives such as Bruce Fein, a Reagan Administration lawyer and John Dean, a moderate Republican who worked for Nixon, when we do. Harold Ford, another wimpy Blue Dog said, "the Constitution doesn't poll well." We've had enough of that kind of talk.
The Bush Administration is so wrong on this issue that it is truly reprehensible that members of the Democratic Party have sided with it. Why do you think that Fein and Dean and supporters of Ron Paul and starting to work with FAAAR LEFT Democrats such as us on this issue?

Nana's Wobbly Analysis of Political History
[Read the article: Let's give "Blue Dogs" the boot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The reason the Democrats didn't have any two-term presidents between Roosevelt and Clinton had little to do with leftist politics or ideology. However, both Truman and LBJ served more than one term. Truman served for 7 years and Johnson for more than 5, Neither one of these guys was remotely leftist or ideological. We also had congressional leaders, from the South of all places, who would go against the conventional wisdom and speak out, like Fulbright on the Viet Nam War and Sam Ervin on Watergate.
And, by the way, you haven't been paying attention: Glenn's post is about standing up for the Constitution. Can you, even in a moment of raving derangement, call that something other than fundamentally sound, principled civic duty?
P.S. The only thing that MSNBC is to the left of is Fox "News".
