As flies to wanton boys are ......
[Read the article: No, let sleeping "Blue Dogs" lie]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Come now, Maureen, it's a bit smug of you to call out Walter for smugness. I haven't read all of your 600+ comments but some of the ones i have read certainly have a whiff of the auld smug, they do. That said, you do have a good command of the language.
p.s.
1. that purge accusation? it seems to me that this is an accusation best leveled against the people who actually used the word. Walter and Renegade Iconoclast have never used the word. that word has been used by the Jonah Goldberg clones in a disingenuous, pseudo-hysterical manner.
campaigning against unreliable party members isn't purging, it's called democracy in action. are we out to get the attention of Chris Carney and Steny Hoyer? Yes. will we help people like Donna Edwards rattle their platforms? count on it. is it a purge? only if it works. but not in the violent, undemocratic way you claim to fear and detest.
2. tyranny? the Bush Administration has, virtually, become a tyranny in this country. and it has set up a framework which will easily allow tyranny to be fully realized as soon as 2009 if the next president is so inclined. i.e., we're on the verge of it at this very moment. the Blue Dogs and the Republican Party are fine with that. Police State? no problem, just so long as America is safe from the brown people.
also, i don't mind you being obsessed with American politics, and i can see the reason you might be. i do agree with your assessment of the economic ascension of China and India and the decline of the US in the 21st Century (something you mention in more than one of your earlier posts). it might not pan out quite the way we both see it but we'll both be dead and gone before that story gets written.
finally, Americans, some of them, do deserve comeuppance for arrogance and hubris. at this moment in time however people who are trying to develop some support for Progressive politics in America are, more than not, trying to bring about a return to the best, most fundamental ideals on which the country was based. Glenn Greenwald represents the brightest and best that we have to offer. If you can point to someone else whose values and ideals are better and worth more consideration i will welcome knowing who they are.

maureen the mighty versus walter and renegade!
[Read the article: Let's give "Blue Dogs" the boot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]guys, i think there is no there there. maureen refers Drudge, prefers Mcstain and is obsessed with her namesake, Dowd, no less. Obama is a hero with clay feet and Sarko is little.
any questions?
