But does this lead to a doomed affair or a disillusioned life or...?
[Read the article: May I dip my English muffin in my egg yolk, please?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Geez, all you people wanting High Drama with every Cary Tennis column! Cripes! Take a twirl!
To the now-wife of Neil Gallanter, thank you for a great story. You get a red star from me. Great middle name for the incoming bambino too.
As far as the food goes, I think if one is dipping with a small unobtrusive piece of bread by hand, it's ok. Maybe not at the summer palace, but a hotel restaurant, sure.
And sausage is indeed very tasty in maple syrup (and better than the rather off-putting "maple-infused" sausages.)
But then, I put ketchup on baked beans, so what do I know?

Merry Christmas, Rob.
[Read the article: It's not a wonderful life]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And to every one reading Salon this morning :-)

To Rob and other cranks
[Read the article: Why does misery love company?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Gee, Cary, that wouldn't be an indirect reference to A.A., would it? ... People, taking advice from a Twelve Step Zombie is a VERY bad idea. -- Rob Anderson"
Rob, what the hell bit your ass today?
That group could be a church, could be an animal shelter, a green roots campaign meeting, whatever. Yeah, people in AA drink coffee and clean up stuff later, but so do lots of other groups. You're anti-AA, ok, we get it. Stand outside their meetings and hand out helpful brochures for the true healing way if you feel so inclined.
Calling Cary a Twelve Step Zombie is... oh, I don't know, vastly insulting?
You are quite a personality in the Letter sections, and while I sometimes agree with you (or at least can see where you're coming from), this time, definitely not.
I missed Cary's column a hell of a lot more during his break than I enjoy seeing you rip someone a new one every single day.
His "drift" wins, hands down.

Bazooka bubblegum pink
[Read the article: Big breasts for dummies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What I find funny about this article (it's very good, by the way) is the way the photos are shown. GIANT BREASTS! But coyly off to the side or cropped off.
That is why the fascination exists and why mannequins are in danger of toppling over if it weren't for their feet being bolted to the floor.
What is hidden, tantalizes. Or becomes very very inflated to become even more of a fetish beacon.
Ah, boobs. Gotta love 'em.
-
The danger looming overhead...
[Read the article: Big breasts for dummies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"...are the stores insured for the inevitable top heavy mannequin falling on top of a customer or hapless employee? how often do they fall over? have they done studies?"
Maybe the old maxim of giant boobs giving black eyes could then be true.
Sorry. I just couldn't resist. I find the whole thing very amusing.
And about buying some cheap stand-ins for tit-loving, all I can hope is that you enjoy friction burns. Not that they could be squashed together anyway! Maybe you could use them to mold taco shells on though.

Rob's response to Kim...
[Read the article: Maria's hope]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Great letter, Rob... but your numbers are off a bit. There are 52 weeks in a year, not 56. So, maybe she could have a bit left for some bean burritos at Taco Bell before starting to cardboard box shop for her new home.

Misleading Story Promo - BOO!
[Read the article: Herbivore vs. carnivore]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Herbivore vs. carnivore: Are vegetarians the moral, peace-loving, cruelty-free enemies of the meat eater? Or a bunch of kooks living in la-la land?"
Followed by a dull, too-long, stilted book review... which does not contain the premise of the teaser, except in describing some vegetarians as nutty.
COME ON, Salon, for God's sake. Are you so desperate for readers that you make up themes to draw people in?
-
Sorry...
[Read the article: Logo contest submissions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But I am not blown away by either of these. (Sorry, designers!)
I'm a graphic designer, so I will toss my hat in the ring too and give my attempt a go on this Saturday. ;-)

Anon on Caregivers Being Mostly Men: Wrong.
[Read the article: I'm a babe, a total catch -- so why am I alone at 39?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anon says:
"There are more men caring for ailing wives than there are wives caring for ailing husbands... the idea of the put upon female caregiver is so culturally ingrained that reality often gets overridden."
No, in the USA, these are the stats for family caregiving:
Women: 72.5%
Men: 27.5%

That's reality.

To "base"
[Read the article: The ladies man]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You're going to start looking at the Republicans because you don't like Michelman? (boggle) How about you stay home instead as you threaten to?
And a grim determination on Edwards' part? Well, duh.
What nuanced viewpoint would you have him promote, just out of curiousity? What vastness of womenhood is he not getting?

Very good article.
[Read the article: I tried to get rich on stock spam]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you for your research and writing! Well worth reading...
I have to admit I wondered about the background of those "hot penny stocks" that I get spammed with at work. I assume that the Cheap Drugs! spams pushing Viagra, Valium, etc, are all sugar pills. Or that they never show up if ordered.;)
Keep writing!

"Kyle Feliks' design, a sort of deconstructed Salon logo"
[Read the article: More logo contest entries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]NICE.
Two thumbs up from a graphic designer geek!
Jazzy, energetic, nice color contrast, liking the overlay and overlap effects... snappy... My pick!

So let me get this straight...
[Read the article: Japanese Mac ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry to step into the Mac/PC pissing war...
But as a long-term user of both, I want to get this: is the general gist here then only the kick-ass computers/the smart people get spyware & viruses as a badge of honor?
And this is bitchin' because...?

Eh?
[Read the article: My man has a special way of making me feel ordinary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How's about an example or two? Can we have something 'real life' to go on? Feed us a bone, will ya?

Egads!
[Read the article: Chow down, dude]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Elitist recipes!?
We better get down to the level of The People and post some tasty mudpie recipes then.
Give me a break. I'm not a member of the Bacon-of-the-Month Club. I grew up on WIC and I've used foodstamps. But my knickers are not in a twist. Like somehow if one buys a pork roast, the next thing you know, they're down and out and using a cardboard box for a bed.
(I got friends so poor, they dream of eating the KRAFT DINNER BOX! Yeah man! Fight the power!)
