Just Go Away, Mr. Bush!
[Read the article: The sixth-year swoon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I couldn't agree with the person more that spoke of how unbelieveable it is that people say they "like him". I'm not saying that GWB is the ogre of all time, but to my way of thinking he certainly is close. If you have eyes, ears, and a couple of brain cells, exactly what is there to truly like about this man? Who in their right mind could say they admire him? FOR WHAT?!!! He is an ignorant man, no doubt, and I am weary of hearing about about how smart Rove is. If he, and the others on the constant flattery team, are really smart then why do they allow Bush to come across as so cocky in his body language, his mannerisms, his speech. I imagine there are some who may try to inform him, but he is simply to dumb and ego-driven to listen. Just now I saw a bit of him giving a speech in India yesterday. Just the way he looks out at his audience while flipping to the next page - this man is a NUT! I know some of this can be seen as petty attacks against him, but it is all part and parcel of what this man is/is not. My husband, sons, and I are just sick with worry about the state of our country under this administration. Yes, we would LOVE to see him impeached. But know that will probably be impossible, certainly unless the Dems win seats in November. I wish Bush and his family, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Rumsfeld, no harm. I wish that wherever their favorite place on this earth is, they would just go there, very soon. I feel sure the cows (cow?) on Bush's "ranch" miss him terribly. shelby

Webcat - Kind and probably right
[Read the article: The sixth-year swoon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To Webcat - just read yours, and after what I just said myself, I know that you have just about hit the truth on the head. Just a simple kid being led by others, but, damn, what a shame for the rest of us! How many years will it take us to crawl from beneath this pile he and his will have left us under? shelja

Stay focused on November
[Read the article: The deception Bush can't spin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Only way for victory over this mess of an Administration is to work very hard to win in November. I agree with G. Wagner who said it is difficult to keep track of the misdeeds of this President and VP. What a field day O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh would be having if this was previous or any Dem. Administration! I think that what Sookie had to say about "have you no decency?", should be the theme of the coming election in Nov. and also in 2008. As much as I hate to see rough campaigns, it is time for the Dems. to take off the gloves. Ask this of every challenger (if it truly fits). McCain should be ashamed of himself for sucking up to Falwell AND Bush. If a man has to sell his soul for ANYTHING, and needs it that badly, then I certainly do not want him anywhere near our Oval Office. I would not be voting for him anyway, but those that would, should consider his recent actions and more that I'm sure will be coming. I hope all Americans who have had enough of George Bush and all who blindly support him, will work for the Democratic candidate of their choice in November. Otherwise, what is going to happen to us? shelby staples

Too much overuse of "hero"
[Read the article: "An Inconvenient Truth"? Doubt it. "United 93"? Bring it on]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I certainly like saintzak's last tine, and DanielHiggins's take on how Bush would rather watch fiction. I may have missed something, but how exactly do we know that flight United 93 was a plane load of heroes? I know there were cell phone conversations and things were heard, and I feel sure there were some who tried to stop what was happening. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it does seem that the very word "hero" is just so overused as to almost make it meaningless anymore. To me those passangers that day were just unfortunate souls who happened to be on a flight with those nuts, not heroes, at least not in the sense that Bush and those like him try to make them out. I really feel sorry for the poor family members who allow themselves to be caught up in this sorry excuse of a President's charades. shelby s

Good thoughts here . . .
[Read the article: They shoot racehorses, don't they?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks to Sally Eckhoff for this article.
Nikita, Ruffian's friend, davy, I watched Ruffian, Anony - all excellent thoughts, and most others. I, too, feel they are trained and raced too early. I, too, feel owners are overbreeding and discarding when things don't come up to par. I, too, the older I get find myself less and less inclined to watch this "sport" any longer because of the injuries and what I have learned recently about the thoroughbred/racing horse industry. BUT, it is not the fault of the horses. Someone, I forget who, said that it is not easy to get a 1000 pound horse to do anything he doesn't want to do. Well, to my point here - the horses that are horribly slaughtered in the three slaughterhouses operating in this country today CANNOT do anything to protect themselves against a bolt gun, baseball bat, when they have no escape route. There is a bill - HR No. 503, waiting for a final vote now as I speak. This bill will stop the operations of these slaughterhouses. More can be explained, but not space here. PLEASE, write/contact your congressman/senator and ask for the passage of this bill, if you love horses, if you ever loved and respected them for the grand creatures they are. Thoroughbred Times.com has loads of info on this bill, and these foreign owned slaughterhouses, as does a great book by Bill Heller: After the Finish Line:The Race to End Horse Slaughter in America. Not a big book. Can be read in one night. In one month this vote will be taken. There is not much time. Help our horses avoid an angonizing, unnecessary death, I beg you. shelby
