May G-d forgive me for saying this

There is one good thing about this suicidally stupid movement.

It is self-correcting.

Human beings are the only mammal for whom childbirth is a life-threatening event. As Kipling said:

She who faces Death by torture for each life beneath her breast

May not deal in doubt or pity—must not swerve for fact or jest.

These be purely male diversions—not in these her honour dwells—

She the Other Law we live by, is that Law and nothing else.

Go to any cemetery from, oh, the eighteenth or nineteenth centuries. Look at the number of men's graves with two, three or even four young women's graves next to them and little ones with a single day, month and year nearby. Even with midwives death in childbirth was so common it wasn't even newsworthy. The Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia treats freaking HUNDREDS of young women whose bodies are mutilated by unattended lone births.

An awful lot of these women will die alone in their pride. If that's what they want, more power to 'em. But it's a shame that they take their babies along with them. If they really were "pro-life" they'd find some other way of daring G-d to kill them AFTER their kids were old enough to look after themselves.

If these women - I hesitate to call them mothers - actually gave a damn about their children they would do their best to make sure the children got a healthy start in life or at least lived to draw their first breath. But it's obvious that they don't. Their babies are WMDs - Weapons of Messianic Destruction - not precious gifts to be cherished, protected and nurtured.

The "trust in the Lord" argument is specious. Any half-witted seminary student learns to dispose of that one almost immediately. You are daring G-d to perform miracles for you, trying to coerce the Almighty. That isn't faith. It's pride and Black Magic.

an0nymous has a point

I don't believe that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 as some are alleging. I don't believe it for a minute. But the doubts will remain until he comes out and dispels them.

He's no Joe Wilson

Wilson interrupted the President during an address to Congress. In doing so he violated House rules. He apologised for breaking the rules, not for what he said.

Representative Grayson spoke from the Floor during an after-hours session. He didn't interrupt anything except the C-SPAN cameraman's nap. He didn't break the rules and need not apologise for the content.

Traditionally the content of Senators' and Legislators' official speech enjoys special protection governed only by the rules created by the two Houses. At its best it allows them to speak freely on matters of importance without fear of punishment by a despotic Executive or Judiciary. At its worst we see the spectacle of Joseph McCarthy who was challenged many times to hiss his poison outside the the Senate where he would have been subject to libel and slander laws.

Besides, Wilson said something which was not true. Grayson really was stating the gods' own Truth.

Rather die quickly than slowly?

Well Zorkna, if I were dying because some selfish greedy bastard was making a few pennies off my death I'd want to live a while. Long enough to cause him as much grief and mortal agony as I could.

Why did they take it down?

Very simple. Advocating the violent overthrow of the government of the United States or even making it appear "normal" - to quote one of the relevant statutes is sedition. Sedition is a very serious crime. By letting it be published under their masthead they opened themselves up to a world of legal hurt.

Just to correct an earlier poster, this is not treason. According the Constitution Article III:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Crawl back in your hole enigma000

I'm just as disappointed in Obama as you are. But rooting for a military coup? You've lost what few brains you ever had. The results are always terrible. It would destroy one of the really good things about America - a military that stays the hell out of domestic politics and is subordinate to the government.

Sedition is a terrible thing. I would be very happy to see you acquainted with the sharp end of the laws pertaining to it.

Obviously, they've never read their own Book

A little cautionary note from Revelation 22:

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

He has one real accomplishment

He's not George W. Bush.

But that's kind of like awarding you a medal in the 800 meters because you lapped a quadriplegic.

Threatening a Judge

Goodness me. The unnamed "correspondent" has just put his tallywhacker into a cleft stick. That is a fairly serious crime. Trumpeting it all over th' Intrawebs is not very bright.

Original article: Buffy the gay vampire lover

Well, maybe

Lots of straight men are fascinated by lesbians.

Lots of straight women are fascinated by gay men.

Not all of them, but enough for it to get a serious chunk of the viewing audience whether or not they'll consciously admit to it. Vampire fiction - including Twilight - has loads of gay sensibility.

Marche is probably making too much stew from one oyster, but he's not entirely wrong.

I only have one thing to say about Lieberman

When they circumsized the treacherous louse they threw the wrong part away.

Unfortunately, the DLCniks - Reid, Obama et al - have a motto. "Never speak ill of your fellow Republican."
