you can be assured that we're all eagerly awaiting your metamorphosis into the next Bil Keane.

There's a vacancy there that's been a vast, silent vacuum for too long.

  • Congratulations, Elephantman.

If "torture" produces lousy intel, we shouldn't do it. If "profiling" produces lousy itnel, we shouldn't do it.

But ANYTHING that results in the interdiction of serious terrorism, should at least be considered.

A flack for the Argentine junta couldn't have said it better. Although the "be considered" sounds a bit "soft" on first notice, the "at least" qualifier was a PR masterstroke.

The actual quotes from Argentine junta members themselves are similar, but bolder and more forthright- often delivered at their trials, before the juries presented their guilty verdicts and the judges read out their sentences.

I may be able to dig up a few verbatim translations for you.

By the way, did you realize that the chance of massive organ failure from a professionally wielded cattle prod is almost nil? Especially if trained physicians are carefully monitoring the subject of the interrogation, like they did at the Navy Mechanic's School in Buenos Aries in 1977...

  • petty and venal cliches, Jonathan...

    That's what I'm on about.

Hey, those were your words that I was quoting, in italics in my previous message. I realize it was only an aside, but trite assumptions like that rub me the wrong way, particularly when they're coupled with offhanded self-assurance about their accuracy.

Greenwald's only in it to sell ad revenue, that's the ticket...spare me. He had a blog long before he got hooked up with Salon. Along with the same incisive commentary, aimed at the same powerful targets.

I'm hopeful that you can put some more thought into your observations in the future. Because insight, that wasn't.

I've read much worse, mind you.

And I'm not going to pursue you about it...consider the matter dropped as of this comment.
