he may be just shy

When I was younger, I had any number of women "friends" on whom I had major crushes, but I was afraid to make a move, because of my fear of rejection. Now, much older, I look back and see the folly of my ineptitude. I know now I missed a lot of opportunities.

And I know the meaning of the word regret. :)

He may feel the same way about the writer, but is unsure how to proceed, because of the band, because of the "friendship."

Men are dolts. We don't catch the subtle signals that women send out, the ones that seem like flashing beacons, sirens, and flares to other women.

He's spending special time with her. I think he's interested.

If you, the writer, are reading this, the next time he gives you a peck on the cheek, turn so he has to kiss your lips.

Fortune favors the bold.

Why do we care if it's butt-ugly?

Why shouldn't we care if it's butt-ugly?

As compared to an iPod or iPhone, for example?

Since it is ugly, it does not invite one to pick it up. It looks like something Steve Ballmer would come up with.

I won't buy one. I read lots of books.

Why didn't they get smart and hire the Apple design team to help create this "breakthrough product?"

My rich friends have NO problem with this

Democracy? The Bill of Rights? Don't worry, be happy.

The "creation of wealth" is all that matters.

Original article: Flirting with disaster

Writer knows nothing about drugs/booze or creativity

She is not doing any more drugs than, say, David Bowie did in the mid-seventies. She unfortunately is in the grip of life-threatening addiction and is not sitting around calculating how much longer she needs to get high to establish her street cred.

Her drug use will not make her a music legend - only music can do that.

If she dies, so what? One cd ... showing promise ... a gift never fully developed ...

We've read this story before. It is boring.

Real artists live, and, as Steve Jobs said, ship. They deliver art, not gutter drama. The media fascination with the snaggle-tooth wannabe Winehouse is just another facet of the celebrity porn noise machine in action.

Original article: Harry Reid's FISA games

Nevada - the money and the power

Nevada gets overlooked as an important state, perhaps because it is small. Do not forget the money fountain that is Las Vegas, laundering operation for hundreds of millions of blood-drug-money-dollars every year. Over the past fifty years, this money has poisoned our whole culture, our politics, our economy. Reid comes from that state. Angels do not get elected there.

I suggest reading "The Money and The Power: The Making of Las Vegas and Its Hold On America," by Sally Denton and Roger Morris.

We are screwed.

didn't she see the movie "Secretary?"

I have a feeling she didn't get spanked hard enough (a common complaint among women I know) ...

In truth ... all team building exercises are moronic. but this takes the cake, I'm afraid. throw in some booze, add a management pervert or two ... voila!

I mean ... I'm really trying to picture the whole thing right now ... it hurts my head ... spanking, diapers, pies in faces ... these are adults who work together?

What I don't understand is why she, or anyone else, stuck around. I would have walked right out the door, circled around, and watched through a window. Probably.

I don't think she had a case, at all, for any kind of harassment.

Did they put a video on youtube?

Every Man Already Has Enough "Friends"

He says, "Do you want to hang out?"

It means he wants to sleep with you.

Period.

All of us have heard the "Let's just be friends many times." We do not need another woman friend.

"Let's hang out" is what wussies say instead of "I have tickets to a play. Would you like to go?"

Any man who says any different is lying. But what the hell, lying works, even to this day.

@ Anonymous 12:14: it's that they don't actually like us very much.

You are wrong. We do like women. It's just not how you want it to be.

I love my women friends. Some used to be girlfriends. A few I slept with once or twice. Any number I still want to sleep with, but would rather have them in my life as friends (and, who knows, they might change their minds some day - women do that), so we are friends and talk often.

I have some women friends I have no desire to sleep with, for various reasons (usually unavailability or unattractiveness). However, they just sort of happened, via work, mutual friends, etc.

But I never asked them out. Or, perish the thought, to "hang out."

@Anonymous - thanks for the laugh

You wrote:

You claim to have women friends, so clearly you are not actually a man. There's no other explanation for why you choose to keep the gash around.

Thanks for the laugh.

@ tina schrier

This is going to be my last post on this subject.

Please do not misrepresent what I wrote.

I DID mention unattractive women two posts ago. I said I had some unattractive (to me) and/or unavailable female friends. But I did not want to sleep with them, nor had I asked them out, or to "hang out." My point, originally, was that if a man asks a woman to "hang out," he is interested in her romantically.

Sexual attraction is the natural order of things. Millions of years of evolution will not be overcome by thirty years of feminist/queer theory, no matter how much you wail about it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

funny how no one mentioned the bush family/nazi connection back when

well-documented. from the guardian:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar

funny how the bush dynasty benefitted so greatly with the deaths of the Kennedys. not saying they were involved of course. still.
