@Asher Steinberg

You sound like a reasonable person. Why in the world are you a republican in the first place? You don't like slick maverick McCain, you don't like the rightwing tilt of Romney, so what is keeping you from the Democrats? Don't you like the pluralist and secular platforms that this country was founded on? Obama and Hillary are both viable candidates and each is far far better than any republican in congress today.

Hillary is a sponsor for flag burning legislation

Why is the media silent on Hillary's efforts to sponsor a bill that would make flag burning a criminal offense? Where is our doyenne on Free Speech on this issue?

Super delegates should honor the will of the people. Otherwise expect the Democratic party to combust.

Do chill. McCain will go the way of Bob Dole and whoever wins, Obama or Clinton, a Democrat will be in the White House.

McCain is toast.

Did you watch the video? It has nothing to do with Ariana Huffington who I agree is a wolf in lamb's clothing. Please do watch the video

Hurrah for The NYTimes

The media has, for so long, coddled up to McCain the maverick and McCain the Straight Talk Express. He has been portrayed as this incorruptible Republican, the man who had so much integrity and patriotism, that he became the poster boy for all journalists to drop to their knees and genuflect.

But John McCain is anything but a maverick. He dropped his first wife for a much younger heiress who would catapult his blind ambitions into national politics. The media should dig up the dirt on how he abandoned his first wife and children, leaving them strapped for money and then silencing her from speaking to the media.

How quickly the media forgot about the Keating 5, the Savings and Loans debacle that cost the American taxpayers billions of dollars. Talk about welfare for the rich.

He was such a staunch Republican, he swayed every way the wind blew. He sneered at the christian right and then bellied up to them to get their votes. He was against flying the confederate flag and then was for it in South Carolina. He voted for the war in Iraq and has promised another 100 years in Iraq, promising more wars, like in Iran. He was against torture but voted against the ban on torture. He voted against the ban on cluster bombs that kills innocent men, women and children.

So how straight is McCain? And why is the media so hell bent on portraying him as a man above scrutiny? I am glad that The NYTimes broke this story. There is a generation of Americans who have come of age that do not know anything about the Keating 5 while there are other Americans who have blissfully forgotten the transgressions of John McCain.

The wheels have fallen off his hypocritical straight talk express, and whether he had an affair with this woman or not, is frankly irrelevant. What is important is that The NYTimes brought his lobbying shenanigans out into the open. He has profited greatly from lobbyist payola
