No one can justify Obama's record
[Read the article: Breaking the Democratic deadlock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Barack Obama, Ladies and Gentlemen...
- Voted in favor of the 2005 Energy Policy Act which had huge giveaways, tax breaks, subsidies to the oil companies. Clinton and even McCain (!) voted against this environmntal disaster and taxpayer rip-off.
- Voted to approve Condaleeza Rice for Secretary of State of United States of America. No comment needed here.
- Obama has said that he wants to keep 150,000 private soldiers in Iraq as part of his "end the war" strategy. This includes 60,000 active U.S soldiers to carry out missions against al-Qeda. No, he will not end the war. Not even close. Want to know why not? Read below...
- Voted to re-authorize the Patriot Act. Great call, Mr. Constutional Scholar.
- Voted with Republicans for billions in military apropriations and served the defense contractors in the process. He's right, he really does reach out to Republicans.
- Defense contractors have contributed more to his camapign than even -- get this -- John McCain. Do you think he will not serve them when he's in the White House? I guess this explains the curious Iraq war strategy.
- Voted against updating the Mining Law of 1872, which allows mining companies to pay little to no royalties to mine on public land. Mr. Renewable Energy said that it would be too hard on mining companies who are currently strip mining and removing mountain tops in the Amercian countryside and geting a free ride in the process. Poor mining companies.
Why, exactly are liberals so enamored with Barack Obama? Please tell me. This is a candidate whose contributor rolls are packed with lobbyists and rapacious Wall Street types. His campaign even holds fundraisers at the homes of oil company executes.
Why, exactly, is he so liberal? How is he going to be such a reformer? He is not a new kind of politician, he's the worst of the old kind -- a silver tongued demagogue who projects one image and then votes the other way.
People (like me) are starting to support Clinton not because we are scared into it by her "scorched earth" Karl Rove tactics, not becuase we're just unenlightened, dumb hicks who are being fooled, not becasue we're Repubicans and not becuase we put too much emphasis on the Obama's ethniity or his pastor. It's because we are starting to discover a little too much hypocrisy and pandering by a candidate who styles himself as above-it-all. Yes, Clinton's made a bunch of mistakes (the Iraq war being the most glaring). But she;s done great work for the State of New York and yes, she does have experience and a graps of how things work. I'll takle her record and avility to get shiot done and her experience tackling the right wing machine over some rookie who's twisted himslef in contradictions in only one year as a junior senator. I know Clinton's an operator but she's got a record of brngin home the bacon for New York and she's smart, tireless, her policies are better formed and she's got more command of the issues. Obama, meanwhile is coming accross as a grade A con man who everybody feels they have to coddle nd protect. A lot of us, like those in Pennsylvania and Indiana and Ohio are changing our minds because we got smarter and did our homework. Suggest you do the same.
Go ahead flame me and blame Clinton for ruining everything. Heard it before.
