  • Obama could walk on water and cure cancer...

Well maybe not, but he's certainly called by the Almighty to bring us change. Check this out:

    Obama = Moses?

This smacks of desparation and pandering by the Obama-ites. I know these simplisitc rubes in small towns are bitterly clinging to religion, but this is riduculous.

(Hmm, where else have we heard this "God called me to serve" crap in a Presidential election?)

  • Poor Rachel Maddow

I think those worried creases in her forehead from last night's MSNBC election coverage will become permanent. She was spinning that Obama loss so hard I'm surpised she didn't fall out of her chair.

  • I am not saying Obama is a confidence man or anything...

but it sure looks like too many smart people have stars in their eyes with Obama. There is so much we do not know about him. He has a genuine gift for oration and that has great value but, it is amazing (and chilling) that educated folks are falling so hook-line-and-sinker for someone who is so green. Full disclosure: I was one of the Obama-ites. If I hear one more time that he's a "quick study,"or a "fast learner," I am going to puke.

Of course Clinton's is a flawed candidate, but at least she has a record. It is funny, that in a country where merit, hard work and experience count at every level of our society, that we'd push someone with practially no C.V. into the highest position in the land. It should come as no surpise to any thinking person that she's getting more support the longer the campaign runs on.

  • Hey Obama-ites, start spinning this one

Turns out our Barry might be beding the truth a little about his lobbying and oil industry ties.

Yes, Obama's ad is factually correct. He does not take money from oil companies. He just takes their executives' money...

How is he supposed to reform our country's architectures of power when he's playing ball with Bush-types? Can someone really put the heat on ebergy companies and care about golbal warming when he owes favors to oil men? I think his friendships with these folks are more troubling than Ayers.

Can't wait to hear your rationalizations on this one. I suppose Clinton is behind this one as well?

Of course he might be ok. He *seems* ok.

The point is, you cannot really blame some people for taking their vote seriously and thinking that voting for Barack Obama could be a tremendous mistake. I know many of my fellow lefty friends will howl that fear and negativity are no way to select a candidate but I know a bunch of people in the Midwest (and in rural small town Northern California) who are seriously up a creek and scared shitless. They are not well educated like us (that's the Salon demo at least) and they are insecure in their financial position and not more financially well-off like us (see: Salon.com demographics). If they want to hedge their bets on a flawed but known commodity who has some record of success bringing home the bacon for NY State, I can sort of see their point.

Why would they be so enthusiastic to take a flyer on a sweet-talking mystery man who came out of nowhere and who immediately came into obsene amounts of campaign loot? The same general profile probably fits the salesman who sold them their disastrous adjustable-rate mortgage.

How are they ever going to be sure Obama can be properly vetted before he becomes President? And, how do they know he won't totally blow it in the general election with some other unforseen blunder or unsavory associate? The GOP has thrown everything they've had at the Clintons for years. What was uncovered might not all be pretty, but they can be relatively certain that there will be no more huge surprises with Clinton. She is what she is at this point and that, in and of itself, might be comforting. The fact that she's taken so many bullets actually endears her to many. Plus, a lot people think she's all right and give her a lot of credit for knowing her stuff (I can now hear the collective sharp, inward breaths of thousands on this board). What is weird to me is that so many people here can not envision anyone voting for Hillary Clinton. It makes sense to me that blue collar people who decided at the last minute voted overwhelmingly for her.

  • Barack Obama still takes in oil money

At the same time he claims in his campaign commercials he does not.

What part of "hypocrite" do we not understand?

  • Ouch. Carol Richards got me.

She is bloody clever, I'll give her that. She took my vitriolic and unfair statements about Obama and turned them against me in order to show me what a small person I am. I'm a little ashamed now that I actually spent my time and energy on writing a response.

The great part is that she's turned me around with satire and wit, not hysterical little facts. Yes, I am an a-hole, Carol, an irrational Obama-basher. Guilty as charged. Most importantly, I am starting to believe in Obama now.
