Funny anecdote, for what it's worth
[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I made a call to a friend of the family in kind of a rural area and I was asking him to consider supporting Barack's campaign. His response was pretty funny and was maybe an insight as to why regular folk might be leaning toward Clinton over Barack. He said:
"Oh man, I could liten to Obama all day and all night, and he seems like a really good fellow and all, but I'm supporting Hillary. You see, I'm looking at that state of these finances here and, man, I really need someone to get up there in Washington and get some shit DONE, son."
You know, sometimes, I don't think people in these dire economic straits give two craps about whether someone is black, white, man or woman. I think they'll suport anyone who they believe will bring home the bacon. I didn't get the impression that he cared who was the nicer person or who ran the cleaner campaign or what their backgrounds were, in fact he gave hints that he liked Obama's personality better. He also didn't seem particularly bitter to me, I believe that he was just looking for someone who would kick some serious ass on his behalf. Somehow, Clinton's got this hand-on, ruthless, no-nonesense reputation in working class/rural communites versus a more academic, considerate and concpeptual image for Barack. Not saying it is well founded or anything (so please go easy on me, Obama-ites), but I do think there is something there.

well, she's gaining on him, polls suggest...
[Read the article: Obama, get ready for the "Clinton rules"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]For whatever reason, it looks like Obama may have been hurt by that debate performance.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/106630/Gallulp-Daily-Clinton-Moves-Within-Points-Obama.aspx
Obama's big mistake is that he never scored that big knockout blow -- California, New York or Ohio would have done it. Heck, a New Hampshire victory would have closed the deal early. He has let Clinton stick around in this race and now he's starting to look the worse for wear. The debate performance was troubling and anyone except the most loyal Obama-ites could probably see that. I bet if/when he wins the nomination, he'll want a mulligan on a few things he let slip out in Philly (denying his handwriting on the survey, "read my lips," etc.).
In any case, if Clinton pulls out Pennsylvania she'll really start pouring it on and put some more serious heat on Obama.

That's an attack ad? Obama people, relax.
[Read the article: Playing the bin Laden card?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee whiz, is everyting single thing that Clinton does a personal attack on Obama? For such a hotly contested nomination process, that was a pretty benign ad if you ask me.

Go Hillary, Go!
[Read the article: Networks say Clinton will win Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama is a great speaker and he's handsome and charming. Nothing in his policy briefs tells me that he'd be a reformer in any way. Hillary's actually got a C.V., a better grasp and has more well formed issues. Obama is backed by lobbyists and Wall Street predators. Plus we're betting on a guy's "learning curve" for the biggest offcie we've got? People are wising up -- this isn't American idol, it's the Presidency! Maybe it's too late for her, but still.
And for all of you who say that Hillary had a 20 point lead in the polls a month ago and now she won by a smaller margin so somehow that's an Obama victory, I say this to you: no one f*cking voted a month ago! They voted today and she won. Period. And she's won more of the the critical swing states that we will need in order to defeat McCain in the general election.
(Added bonus today: seeing all the whiny Obama supporters in here act like crybabies)
Go ahead, flame me.

Major Democratic Strongholds?
[Read the article: Networks say Clinton will win Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and Michigan?
Those are the states that make-or-break the general election. Either Democratic candidate easily wins California, Mass, Illinois, New York, etc. Methinks the Super Delgates are in it to win it and they'll go with Clinton becuase she's a better shot to deliver the swing states in November. The Super Delegates have independence to make decisions based on factors such as swing state perfomance. That's their role as party insiders. Remember, it's winner-take-all state-by-state in the Electoral College systme, unfair as it seems.
I don't want to screw around with the candidate who can't win his own party in a swinger like Ohio or Pennsylvania. I know he's a flawed candidate like Clinton, but I like Obama a lot. There is something transcendant about him and us when he speaks. But unless he can show up big-time in a battleground state, I am offically worried. And no, losing by a small margin doesn't count as showing up. You have to win.

"Obama isn't going to get a knockout...
[Read the article: Networks say Clinton will win Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"He doesn't need to. He is going to win by decision"
Yes, and he'll lose all the important up-for-grabs states along the way. Now he's grossly outspending Clinton in the swing states and he still can't win them.
Why, that's just terrific news for us in November.

Now the Obama pandering goes into high gear
[Read the article: Obama can't close the deal ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't know if anyone's seen this new mailer from Obama? How coud he (I'm sure somehow Clinton will be blamed for this)?

As my fiend said: Haven't we had enough with religious nut jobs and panderers? What's with his flirtations with Reaganites and screw his Christianity already! Barak, we don't care about you ignorantly praying to a mythical sky-god...but doing it for votes just reeks! You're losing people. I'll vote for Obama in a second in the GE if it's him, but I am keeping my distance...and this is the reason...the final straw. Screw your religiousity Barak.
We. Don't. Care!
Go ahead everybody, blame Hillary Clinton. You know you want to.
