She should really be our next President
[Read the article: "No way, no how, no McCain"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Six bad weeks in an 18-month campaign and now we have Obama as the nominee, which is not that bad. But still, we heard last night what could have been...
Damn you Mark Penn for whiffing in Iowa and denying us the most progressive and qualified candidate!

a little concerned about this one
[Read the article: Palin: A "maverick" move or a nod to the GOP base?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just want to add that as a Governor of an actual United State (no matter how long she been in office), Palin now has more pure executive management experience than the other three senators in the race combined.
State Governors tend to do well in Presidential races because they are seen to be managers and directors of entire entities, rather than small committees or individual legislation, which are the provinces of senators. And Governors have an edge since they come from outside of Washington. The Senate, remember, has an even lower public approval record than George Freakin' Bush. McCain, Biden, Obama -- all come from the lowest rated senate body of all-time.
I am not saying McCain/Palin can win this thing (god forbid) but, this veep selection might actually work out for McCain.

Yes, should have picked Clinton
[Read the article: Should Obama have picked Hillary?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well, she smart, experienced, passionate, encyclopedic on all issues and comes with 18 million + energized supporters (not all of us Clinton-ites are women, BTW). She is also a democrat who has the respect of our military leaders and is associated with the most successful Democratic administration since Roosevelt. I thought Obama would show wisdom and humility and select Hillary, but I guess Barry still wants to be the rock star. He went the safe route and took a career Washington insider. And a white guy, to boot. Huge opportunity wasted.
If Obama is elected he ought to tap Clinton for a Supreme. Or Secretary of State, at the very least.

Sexism is so convenient
[Read the article: Knock it off, Paul Begala]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So easy, even for liberals.

A clever VP selection inasmuch
[Read the article: McCain's Palin pick is the epitome of tokenism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...as it will expose the inherent undecurrent of sexism in liberals. I was very surprised and utterly appalled at the unchecked gender-based slurs launched against Clinton by seemingly fair Democrats. The Repugs surely saw this and placed an up-and-coming right wing woman in front of them so the left could simply eat itself with more knee-jerk mysogynist remarks.
McCain and his handlers know this type of side-of-mouth sexist langauge will again seep out into the public like did against Clinton and mar the Democratic party's ideal of fairness and feminism. Keep in mind, this veep selection is not intended to sway Democratic party women or Clinton supporters over to their ticket. This was designed to enrage independents and moderates who probably would sit out this election anthe levd pull for the McPalin ticket, flawed as it is. The attacks against Pailin will reveal more disturbing liberal sexist tendencies just like they saw in the Clinton-Obama primary tussle. McCain's camp will trumpet any hint of elitist, left-wing hypocrisy.
The Repugs have set a brilliant trap and the left has already unwittingly taken the bait. Nice job, knuckleheads.

Good points -- not very funny cartoon, though
[Read the article: Bateman: Sarah Palin makes her big speech]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Partisanship -- on either side -- it terribly dull.
I am a fan of yours, so here is some advice: Either make your cartoons entertaining or don't post them.
In case yo haven't noticed, we have the same arguments in about 1,000 different places here on Salon.
Your job = to be funny, not to shill.

Funny, cheeky article - thanks Gary
[Read the article: The dominatrix]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Finally, some sense of hunoir from Salon. Yeah we're alittle concerned by the power of Sarah Palin's hotness.
I said it when I saw her come on the stage during her speech sat the RNC -- Uh, oh, not good. This woman is TOO good looking. This is America. This could actually work.
Kamiya is right -- she is hot and it is does count for something. Wait unitl they relase those photos of her jogging along the Alaska coastline. They don't call her GILF for nothing. People who could not give a hoot about politics are now setting google search image result records for a Repuplican Vice Presidential candidate. Think about that for a second.
And the more that thoughtful, overly concerned liberals howl about how she is portrayed as a sex object, the hotter she'll be to many people. Sad, but true.
It is base. It is manipulative. But the Republicans are clever. It will get our collectve attention.

Obama's main goal
[Read the article: Obama: "This is exactly the time" for a debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]..is to win the election. Period. His profession is "Political Candidate." Donors didn't pour record-breaking amounts of money into his campaign to simply halt the process and have him become a full-time senator again. I am sure the good people of Illinois that he represents fully understand this undertaking.
Say what you will about Obama, but man is focused.

Biden's hideous facelift
[Read the article: The dumbing down of the GOP]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How in the world can we have a Veep candidate who is supposed use to his modest background and his connection with Main Street when his frickin' eyes were pulled halfway up into his scalp?
I guess its his choice whether or not to get work done on his face, but were I come from aging gracefully really reflects a modest, mainstream background. What do you think his boys in Scranton think about their Joe becoming Joan Rivers?
