Applying to job posting for Commander in Chief
[Read the article: What's in John McCain's medical records?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The military is, by necessity, a specialized society (separate) from civilian society.... ‘The military must insist upon a respect for duty and a discipline without counterpart in civilian life,’ in order to prepare for and perform its vital role.... The essence of the military service ‘is the subordination of the desires and interests of the individual to the needs of the service.’ The history of the courts deferring to the judgment of military leaders on matters affecting the Armed Forces is one of the most consistently upheld principles of constitutional law. Furthermore, serving in the military is a privilege and sometimes an obligation, conferring neither the right to serve nor the right to avoid service... (see Kennedy v. Mendoza-Martinez 372 U.S. 144 (1963)).
i.e. The military doesn't have to accept just anyone who wants to join.
Disqualifying factors include:
Persons whose enlistment are not clearly consistent with interests of national security.
Having history of psychotic disorders or state of insanity at time of application for enlistment.
Because we, the voters, are electing the ultimate military commander I feel we have an absolute right to know any relevant issues that could impede Sens. McCain/Obama in his duty.

Subject matter
[Read the article: The DVD isn't dead]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The reason I still keep my DVD player is that there are certain titles (hint: you don't have to see the finish know you will have a happy ending)I keep coming back to. Vudu, netflix & friends do not offer these titles or the variety that I like. The 24 hour viewing window of OnDemand is too much pressure and at $12.99 not worth it. Online can be free but quality is usually poor and the hidden costs (virus, spyware) are too high.
I'm sure that someday soon these issues will be addressed to my satisfaction, but until then the dvd player stays.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]by promising to vote like a democrat. Someone needs to remind the republicans (and independants) that Maverick = Democratic issues.
Maverick does not equal Cowboy.
Maverick does not equal Batman.

two questions
[Read the article: Palin watch ends!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1) One of the few areas that you can immediatly reach out across the isle would be to revive the immigration reform that Sens. McCain and Kennedy proposed in 2006. Seeing as this is constantly used as an example of working with the other side it would seem an obvious reform to tackle. How would you propose to sell your base that giving illegal immigrants citizenship will be a wise move for America.
2) Given what we now know about WMDs and Iraq, do you believe it was a mistake to invade.
