WTF?
[Read the article: "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"The light, pleasingly casual quality of the first picture"
Wait, this was written by the person whom Salon hired to be its film reviewer?
I recently caught the first F4 on cable, and you don't have to be a cinephile to see it for what it is: a badly written, atrociously acted, juvenile pile of crap.
you guys have such smart writing all over Salon - wish it were so in your film section.

can we please stop whining about up-tempo basketball
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I know that's everyone's beef right now, but has anyone considered that maybe this vaunted and exciting up-tempo brand of basketball simply isn't the best style? that is, if you want to win championships and whatnot?
while American fans, and the NBA to a large extent, have been obsessed with fast-paced, "exciting" basketball for the past few years, the rest of the world has been kicking American butt in international competition by playing the same team-first basketball that the Spurs play.
A little more substance in American basketball would be a welcome development, and would perhaps cause more US victories in the international stage as well. To that end, I hope the Spurs have a few more good years in them.

Hilarious
[Read the article: How bots rigged D.C.'s "hot" reporter contest]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The funniest thing about all this is the idea of holding a "hottest" content in DC, of all places. That place is the capital of schlubs - hotness is definitely NOT one of the things that comes to mind.

Adventurous? How about more of the same?
[Read the article: No budget, naked bodies, high intensity]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've always found SXSW's film festival to be predictable in its championing of hipster solipsism. Much like Austin itself, the festival seems to cater to the experiences and travails of middle-class white twentysomethings. And this is the adventurous film that took O'Hehir out of his comfort zone? I mean, how many times can one play the same tune? I hate to sound like a hater (and I guess that's how my letter comes across), but if this is the vanguard of American indie cinema - as so many critics love to pontificate - then American indie cinema is due for a swift kick in the ass.

where's the NBA playoffs?
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't get it - is King forbidden from talking about the NBA playoffs while the playoffs are taking place? Did he boycott them in a column I may have missed? I'm being silly, of course, but man, am I jonesing for some King Kauffman NBA coverage!

[Read the article: Battle of the skyscrapers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why would you run a piece about architecture without photos?!?!?! Bad, Salon! Repost the story at once!
Love ya.
