Original article: And baby daddy makes three

Yikes!

I feel like this author pretty much admitted trapping this young man into fatherhood. She expected/hoped that he would flake on her - but he’s a stand up guy so now he’s a happy, proud father. But it’s still not right. I still can’t help but think that fatherhood should have been different for this man.

I don’t know. This story makes me deeply uncomfortable. And yes – I would have seen it all much, much differently had she gone to a sperm bank.

@ postnoodz

“Then again, it appears she gave him all the "out" opportunities and he chose to stick around, so who knows?”

But I don’t know ANY men who would walk away from their child. The 20-something slackers I know are not tom cats who have children all over the place and then just forget about it. The nice guys I know would suck up any hard feelings they had toward the woman and be a good dad even it’s a real struggle. I think that ‘out’ the author offered her baby daddy was actually pretty condescending and it’s that the rubs me the wrong way: that she thought fatherhood was no big deal to him.

To be clear – I think single mom’s are great, I’m the last person to judge a one night stand and I’m super happy everyone is healthy and working it out. But that ‘accidentally on purpose’ thing isn’t at all funny to me. I don’t get that feminist pride feeling – quite the opposite.

How many bad/dumb teens watch the Today Show?

I’m going to guess not many. In fact – I would argue that when a prank hits something like the Today Show or Dr. Phil it’s un-cool and over.

I think what this shows kids is what they should have known all along: video tape yourself doing something bad and you will get caught.

why can't we blame the doctors?

I have no memory of mine breaking (if I ever had one) except that it didn’t happen when I had sex for the first time. And that’s really sort of scary – you’ve got to figure it’s not the women who know they’ve done wrong and are getting the surgery who are in danger – it’s women like me who fully expect to bleed but don’t who are in danger. So I do blame the doctors! By participating in this surgery they are perpetuating the myth that an intact hymen = virginity even when that is false, false, false. And by letting people believe that the two are so strongly connected it puts a lot of women in a very dangerous spot. I think that breaks their professional oath to do no harm.

And the Valentine’s Day thing is just silly. I really just don’t believe it. That doctor is full of shit – or he’s just seen one awful, probably mentally ill American. I mean - who would want to give their husband the present of their pain and blood? And what sort of freak job of a man would accept that gift as a good thing? It makes no sense.

@ bonmot

Vaginal rejuvenation and hymenoplasty are two different things. The first just tightens and the other actually recreates the hymen. I think I’ve read the American articles you’re referring to and they’re all talking about rejuvenation and not hymenoplasty. The article this post refers to seem to suggest Americans need to travel abroad to get a hymen reconstructed. If you can think of an article that contradicts that I’d be interested/deeply saddened to read it.

Original article: The king of beer mergers

Yeah, but its cheep and cold

I like Bud and Bud Lite. It’s a good, cheap summertime beer. When fancy pints in NYC can be as high as $10 and it’s as hot as hell outside it’s a good choice. I like ordering it when everyone else is ordering something fancy and expensive – I promise you that people around me cancel that pricy ‘mico-brew’ and hop on my Bud Lite band wagon quick once I’ve made it ok. And I like 40s (and fancy beer hardly ever comes in a 40 oz). Pour it in a chilled glass and it’s all the same.

And this company has branded itself very well. That Bud can IS iconic and it’s really not Christmas time until I see those Clydesdales trotting through the snow. Do I care that a foreign company is buying them up? Not really. I don’t think it changes how I view the brand at all.

Too stupid

This guy is an idiot. I don’t care about his sex life – but I do care that the inter-webs confuse him.

The boyfriend’s mom was certainly wrong –

but I’m not sure it would be any less wrong then if girl’s mom twisted her arm into carrying to term.

16 might be young but by the time this girl was to have given birth she’d have almost been a legal adult. It seems crazy to me that her parents have such tight control over a decision that will impact her entire life so completely. I mean – we’re talking about her HS education and her collage plans too. And once that girl hit’s 18 those concerned parents could toss her and that baby out to fend for themselves. Not that they would – I’m just saying that at 16 it should be this young woman’s decision entirely.
